FLOOR-PLAN of Baby Lisa Irwin's home likelihood of this being stranger abduction

Right, I saw that on the second viewing, Patty.

What I don't get is why, according to the parents statements, Jeremy went to Debbie's room, asked about the lights, door, window, etc., recalled that Lisa's bedroom door was open...and then Jeremy goes and checks on the boys first. He would have had to have walked right past Lisa's bedroom door. Wouldn't you check on the kids in the order of their rooms? Especially if it's true that Lisa's light was on (People mag article), and her bedroom door was open. :waitasec:

I'm scratching my head -- why would parents close a baby's bedroom door? Baby monitors just don't pick up everything!! just imo

my little girl is 11months old so similar age to Lisa and i close her door but not all the way i always leave it open at least halfway, cause like you said baby monitors don't pick up everything.

but it beats me why if Lisa's bedroom light was on wen he went to check on the boys why the heck wouldnt that be the first place you go.....she didn't just get up and turn it on herself :waitasec:

Our daughter has always been a light sleeper and we have pets (dogs and cats). From the time she was a newborn, she slept in her own room with the door shut and monitor on full blast because: 1. I wanted to keep the cats out of her crib; and 2. household noise would have woken her up repeatedly.

So I don't think there's anything strange about keeping a baby's door shut - though there are PLENTY of other strange things about this case.

This would be a GREAT thread to discuss the monitors, doors being closed etc., etc.

After viewing the floor plan, I'm about 80% sure if this were a stranger abduction, someone knew the layout of the home and whose room was whose. I couldn't walk in this house and instinctively know where to find the phones and the baby in a very short period of time.

Do we know "exactly" what lights were on and what weren't? IIRC, they just say "alot" or "most" or "many".

But using abduct-baby scenario -

s/he comes in the computer room window, turns on light, goes into kitchen, turn on light, (goes into hallway and perhaps can see into boys room sees bunk beds, opens Lisa's closed door assuming that's where she is), turns on her light, grabs her, goes back into kitchen, grabs cell phones, then goes into living room turns on light and exits the front door.

What did I miss?

i agree, its quite a confusing layout IMO i couldn't go into that house and instinctively know where each room was.

so IF there was an abduction IMO it wouldn't have been a stranger

Well here's a tip for everyone about doors -- take the regular bedroom door off and install a cottage screen door -- keeps pets out, but you still hear everything. As far as household noise, if they don't get used to regular household noise, every slight sound will wake them. Speaking from my own experiences only.

And if we are to believe eyewitness sightings of infant in a diaper only, at some point, the perp disrobed Lisa???

Great tip, but I guess the point is that every family is different. What works for some doesn't work for others. Our daughter is 6 1/2 now and never wants to sleep anyplace but in her own bed, dark, with a small nightlight and door closed. The baby monitor was more than enough to be able to hear everything we needed to hear and I'd do it the same again. Closed door worked very well for us, and the monitor never failed us :)

I think we've finally nailed the floorplan. If there are any updates, I'll update the drawing.

lisa_floorplan_final.jpg

Looking at this floor plan, this intruder comes through the computer room window, turns on lights, and walks right past the boys room before going to Lisa's room. He would then have to have grabbed Lisa and either walked right past the master bedroom or right past the boys bedroom, depending on what route he took to the front door. The baby never cries? :waitasec:

And looking at this floor plan, if we take what JI says at face value (in one of his versions), he walked through the front door, through the kitchen to the computer room, fiddled with the window/screen, came back through the kitchen, and then either through the livingroom to get to his room, or into the hallway door in kitchen to get to his bedroom. Now, Debbie tells us that it was while they were talking in the bedroom that JI recalled Lisa's bedroom door being open. So again, if that light on was, he knew that BEFORE he went to talk to Debbie. And yet he tells us in this version that he checked on the boys first. So...he walked passed Lisa's open bedroom door with the light blaring, in order to make sure the BOYS were alright? You can clearly see Lisa's crib from the kitchen hallway door. I can anyway. I can see INTO her crib. JI couldn't? Not while walking through the kitchen? Not on his way to his bedroom (if that's the route he took)? Not even on his way to check on the boys? :waitasec:

that is why IMO, not a stranger! and came right in front door, wasn't afraid of being in the house.

Awesome floor plan, I read this whole thread just to see how it came to be. Thank you!!

Ummm, wanna do my house so I can play move the furniture w/o actually moving the furniture??? J/K

Someone who knew the house, possibly the drinking buddy nieghbor? I put my neighbor theory in the correct thread. I wish this would end already, this baby needs to be safe.

I always shut the door on my kids' bedrooms. While we lived in a small apartment I always remembered learning to keep doors shut at night in case of fire or other emergency. Even as babies, it felt safer to me to keep their doors shut. Of course, I never left windows open or unlocked. Still don't to this day.

Agree, and with regard to the cell phones also being "missing", that counter is out of the way either from the computer room to the bedrooms or back out the house through the front door. There would be no reason for the "abductor" to accidentally notice the cell phones especially on the way out while carrying a baby who could start making noise at any moment.

Bumping this thread

On this new video (today - 10/29) if you pause it at the 2:36 mark you get a very good look at the boys bedroom. I noticed there is an oscillating fan in there as well.

Just throwing this up here as we have no news - but this new look at one of the rooms may help.

I saw that too and captured a single shot of the room. I am not sure if that is a closet, or steps to go up or down.

Continuing with my observations on this room:

The window is covered in here as well. Not with the black plastic and duct tape - nope. And LE didn't do this. It looks to me like it is one of those "kids" area rugs you can buy that have graphics on them so the kids can play. The figure looks like he's kicking a ball - but the other marks look like "roads" for a kid to play cars on. ODD for this thing to be hanging at a window. It is clearly a window as there are curtains to the right side.

Then, the next thing I noticed was there is a "wall graphic" on the wall behind the door. Hard to see what it is - but with my magnifying glass it looks to be maybe a character out of a roll playing video game with a huge, modified weapon (that's what is visible). It really does look like that to me. My 21 yr old is a serious gamer and I've seen countless pictures of these "roll playing characters". VERY VERY ODD to be on the wall of a 6yr old and an 8 yr old. To me - that is just too young for anything like that to be put on the wall.

Also, I know it must be the closet - BUT at first glance it looks like stairs in that opening.

And all the paint and drywall buckets that are stacked up in front of the window. Maybe those were in the closet but why on earth would you store stuff like that in your kids closet?
