And an ironic twist here where a St. John's County Commissioner who last week voted against requiring masks in his county, has been admitted into a hospital in critical condition with Covid 19.
Did he believe he was immune? Photo shows him to be very, very overweight.

What will it take for people to understand this is not "fake news" or a hoax?

Holy moly- when we left Fort Myers/Lee County on June 3 there were perhaps 900 cases and maybe 200 deaths in Lee County: i can't exactly recall: i do recall it was under control: there are now 10,000 cases in Lee County and a lot more deaths-- I am so glad we are not there now. I truly felt safe there. Wow just Wow

Florida reported another 12,624 coronavirus cases Monday bringing the statewide total to 282,435. Another 35 fatalities were also reported bringing the death toll to 4,277

Testing has doubled over the last month, going from about 25,000 tests per day to almost 50,000, but the percentage of people testing positive has risen even more dramatically. A month ago, fewer than 5% of tests came up positive on a daily average. Over the past week, the daily average exceeded 19%

What do we need to do as a state? Line our roads with caskets? Mask dispensers in front of businesses? How dense must one be to not get the correlation?

My friend and I walked into a Dunkin Donuts the other day because it was empty. I was wearing a mask. She was not. They stopped her at the door. She had just forgotten it in her car. She went and got it. We went back in. We didn't cause a scene. They were grateful for our business and appreciated our cooperation.

I wish our residents would start a marching protest called "Shame on, DeSantis" and embarrass him a little more. He's closed his ears to protecting the citizens and instead is promoting capitalism because....IMO, he's lining his pockets with payola to keep things open.
Here in Central Florida Disney World has a very interesting history of 'winning' over local
politicians. Have friends who've been beneficiaries. all expenses paid resort vacations and weekend getaways. Thanks DisneyWorld.

I'm watching the roundtable discussion held by
Gov. DeSantis in Miami-Dade, along w/ 34 mayors of surrounding municipalities.
these local leaders are making suggestions on how better to handle the surge.

One mayor (miami ?) said they may be very close to shutting things down again. He was also very clear that the Gov. and President need
to have a long term stategy on how to handle this. When to shut down....? When to re-open...? He believes that's not in place at this time.
Several mayors recommended the Gov. and Pres. lead by example regarding masks and
staying home suggestions.
One mayor said Fl. needs an enormous army of contract tracers. We need this help right now.
One said the Gov. and President have to convey a sense of urgency in getting citizens to co-operate, instead of downplaying the seriousness.
Another said there should be more accuracy and consistency on data from Fl. Dept. of Health.
Gov. DeSantis is throwing out softball questions right now to the panel.
The young guy who spoke first from Miami was
like a jr. Cuomo. Smart, sharp had good suggestions, direct and take charge.
He makes DeSantis look like an over engorged
caterpillar , too slow and ineffective.

FOX 35 INVESTIGATES: Florida Department of Health says some labs have not reported negative COVID-19 results

ORLANDO, Fla. - After FOX 35 News noticed errors in the state's report on positivity rates, the Florida Department of Health said that some laboratories have not been reporting negative test result data to the state.

Countless labs have reported a 100 percent positivity rate, which means every single person tested was positive. Other labs had very high positivity rates. FOX 35 News found that testing sites like one local Centra Care reported that 83 people were tested and all tested positive. Then, NCF Diagnostics in Alachua reported 88 percent of tests were positive.

How could that be? FOX 35 News investigated these astronomical numbers, contacting every local location mentioned in the report.

The report showed that Orlando Health had a 98 percent positivity rate. However, when FOX 35 News contacted the hospital, they confirmed errors in the report. Orlando Health's positivity rate is only 9.4 percent, not 98 percent as in the report.
