Well BUF, I listened to the whole PC thinking he would surely have some new plan...NOPE..
nada. Not one new plan or change. Same old.
Daytona Beach has mandated masks in public.
One bar was tracked and had 80+ positive cases
resulting and those are just the initial cases.
DeSantis is hopeless.
He is flying by the seat of his pants, trolling around trying to decide which group he’s going to blame next.

Florida’s Covid Cases Up Fivefold in 2 Weeks: ‘The Numbers Are Scary

A surge in coronavirus cases has prompted officials to prohibit alcohol sales in bars and close Miami beaches for the coming holiday. But will it be enough?

On Saturday, for the second straight day, Florida crushed its previous record for new coronavirus cases, reporting 9,585 infections. Another 8,530 were reported on Sunday.
......
The situation in Miami is equally serious: One-third of all patients admitted to the city’s main public hospital over the past two weeks after going to the emergency room for car-crash injuries and other urgent problems have tested positive for the coronavirus.
......
Much of Florida’s new surge in cases appears to follow from the reopening of beaches, bars, restaurants and other social activities. The state’s beaches are full and throngs of revelers pack its waterways on boats.
......
Now, Ms. Matas said she is conflicted about what to do with her two children when it is time for school.

“Parents are scared; teachers are scared,” she said. “I don’t know what to do. I think about it every day.”

I guess that the "new" strategy is to accomplish herd immunity as quickly as possible.

Florida coronavirus: Another 6,000-plus COVID-19 cases reported

Seminole County's mask requirement goes into effect tomorrow - I don't understand the delay at all. not that it matters - none of the lawyers or tenants in our buildings are wearing masks and it is required... sigh. i just know they are going to give it to me.

Does the law firm own the building? Or is it managed by someone else?
They are in absolute control - and the clients aren’t wearing masks either .. I wear mine though - and now the fedex guy has one but usps and ups don’t yet (so far) even though it’s mandatory

Nope, we’re not going to backward. We’re just going to let people die. This will not end well.

California and Florida are charting different coronavirus paths as cases spike
US coronavirus: California and Florida are charting different paths as cases spike - CNN
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis told the reporters that there's no going back to stricter measures, while California Gov. Gavin Newsom hinted that on Wednesday he'll tighten restrictions, especially at beaches, this Independence Day weekend.

In Florida, DeSantis assured reporters that his state can deal with the uptick in cases and it's not necessary to shut down shops and restaurants.

"We're not going back, closing things," he said. "I mean, people going to business is not what's driving it. I think when you see the younger folks, I think a lot of it is just more social interactions and so that's natural."

At this point I’m terrified. Our governor’s lack of concern is stunning. He stated last week that he was OK with the huge number of cases, because they were younger people and would survive the virus. He has stood fast in resisting mandates for masks and other measures. Yesterday, he criticized beach closures in southern counties. Testing facilities are now strained to the gills, with results delayed considerably.

In my zip code in Palm Beach County, the cases are close to double what they were 10 days ago. Nearby zip codes are even worse. I have asthma and have my 90 year old mother with me in my condo. She was going to enter an assisted living facility, but at this point all 7 of the facilities we visited have COVID-19. She is not going to any ALF unless there’s a vaccine. We stay home, but have had to interact some with people outside. We went to the dentist last week, and although the dentist and hygienist were very careful, the receptionist was a fool who kept taking her mask off when she spoke. The carelessness, IMOP, results from leadership that is indifferent to what is going on.

Personally, I feel doomed and unlucky to live in a state where the political leadership is indifferent to the coming storm of sickness, hospital bed shortages, and death.

Our Gov. is being totally ridiculous. Its all diversion he's doing. He will not address any of the needed issues. People better be out voting him out of office. I swear he just likes to hear himself talk. DAILY. About anything BUT the virus, unemployment, healthcare issues.

26 of my local Publix Supermarkets in the Orlando area have employees w/ Covid. Can you imagine how many Disney employees will be spreading the virus? It's a disaster waiting to happen.
