I don't think they're one ounce... They're not in scale with what is likely the 1 oz silver coins and if they were tubes of 10, it'd be more than 40K and we'd have heard about it. IMO. Half-oz, quarter oz? one-tenth? who has a slide rule? :)

YIKES! HIM, file for Innocent Spouse Relief? That would get the IRS rolling their eyes considering how it was most likely himself (the royal himself) who was supposed to pay, but didn't. Especially now after the world has seen $40k in cash plus all the collections, toys that could have been sold to pay taxes. One of the toys being the macho two-wheeled penis compensator.

IMO: no freaking way would he qualify for Innocent Spouse Relief. I'm guessing out of my hat, but I think TS may have had no idea he hadn't paid. I believe she would be a stickler for doing the right thing and assume all was good. She may have found out recently, I guess we may find out.

al66pine – Thanks for finding that. So, some property is exempt from IRS seizure, like certain annuity and pension benefits. And, there are limitations on IRS’s seizure of a primary residence.

MS likely has all of the IRA funds in his possession. But, if he deposited the IRA money in a bank account, then IRS might seize the bank account.

Something else interesting I read at the IRS link you posted is about Innocent Spouse Relief. It seems that MS could perhaps request this relief for the IRS Tax Lien for the 2013 Form 1040 taxes.

Innocent Spouse Relief
Generally, both you and your spouse are responsible, jointly and individually, for paying any tax, interest, or penalties on your joint return. If you believe your current or former spouse should be solely responsible for an incorrect item or an underpayment of tax on your joint tax return, you may be eligible for Innocent Spouse Relief. This could change the amount you owe, or you may be entitled to a refund. You must submit Form 8857, Request for Innocent Spouse Relief, no later than two years from the date of our first attempt to collect the outstanding debt, except for requests for equitable relief under Internal Revenue Code section 6015(f). For additional information, see Publication 971, Innocent Spouse Relief

Omg, you're killing me! I will have to file "macho two-wheeled penis compensator" away. That was great! Thanks Felicity, your posts are always a riot to read!

Yes KateB What we CAN SEE could be of smaller weight (1/4 oz or 1/2oz)...there are a lot of item in containers of which we can not see the contents. (Nuggets, gems, gold dust?) What ever it is, it was of value to him.
I went to the store for a little bit and thought about this.....Why, in a million years would you tell someone to "leave the alarm off, I don't want to pay for a false alarm" even though I have tens of thousands of dollars of CASH, GOLD COINS and guns in my home...And my precious wife, the sole bread winner of our household, the one with whom I am trying to rekindle my relationship with, is flying home alone, late at night and will be entering the property???? So, even if I were to rule out the "burner phone issues" ....I still think this looks like a "set up" for his wife to be killed.

I wonder if MS has a safety deposit box or a storage unit somewhere?

Krugerrands or Other Gold Coins
Not sure which pix (or Bates #) posters are referring to & I don't have eagle eyes (cannot tell from LE's pix what size K'rands/other gold coins were in safes) but thought the following info could help some sleuthers here figure out what coins & which sizes are in the pix. And thus the ~ mkt value of safe contents, and to compare that to what MS told LE early on.

"The Krugerrand is 32.77 mm in diameter and 2.84 mm thick. The Krugerrand's actual weight is 1.0909 troy ounces (33.93 g). It is minted from gold alloy that is 91.67% pure (22 karats), so the coin contains one troy ounce (31.1035 g) of gold."

[TABLE - info & size & reeding/serrations of 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, & even 1/10 oz K'rands]

"The South African Mint Company produces limited edition proof Krugerrands intended to be collectors' items rather than bullion investments. These coins are priced above bullion value, although non-proof Krugerrands also have a premium above gold bullion value. They can be distinguished from the bullion Krugerrands by the number of serrations on the edge of the coin. Proof coins have 220 while bullion coins have 160.[SUP][9][/SUP][SUP][10]". bbm[/SUP]

Hope ^ helps.

With the coins for scale perspective, those tapes look more like cassette audio tapes than VHS video tapes. Maybe that was obvious to most, but I just noticed it. Good morning.

Good morning, KateB. They are much smaller than VHS tapes. They're mini video tapes. I see DV on them. Thinking that stands for digital video. Probably the format that replaced Hi-8 tapes.

I thought I saw a small envelope marked "safety deposit box". Iirc, it was in the safe pics. I'll go look for it now and come back with link. Good Morning :)

The bates # isn't visible. I'm not sure how to reference it. It is the first pic in one of the folders .0023. It is a small white envelope from Bank of America in the bottom left hand corner. Sorry, I tried to figure out how to bring the pic here and failed!

Thanks Kate! Now I'm trying to figure out if that is money just above the envelope and if it is, where it is from.

The Treasury Vault Certificate of Authenticity:

attachment.php

I'm thinking MS got scammed investing in Iraqi Dinar:

“In addition to the four defendants, the lawsuit specifically names Energy Savers Advisors LLC, which does business as the BH Group; Bayshore Capital Investments LLC of Jacksonville; Treasury Vault LLC of Draper, Utah; and Dinar Trade Inc., of Las Vegas...

...According to the indictment, the men fraudulently marketed and sold dinars, the currency of Iraq, causing investors of the BH Group to lose nearly $23.8 million. They also are accused of selling more than $700,000 in nonexistent hedge-fund assets.

The sale of Iraqi dinar is not illegal. But the indictment said that beginning in August, 2010, the defendants falsely told investors and promoted through the Internet, email, and weekly telephone conferences that buying the dinar involved minimal risks because the currency was protected and regulated by the "Overseas Investment Protection Act and a presidential executive order, guaranteeing 90 percent reimbursement," among other misrepresentations.

ETA: I could be wrong on the Iraqi Dinar, Treasury Vault also sell gold & silver coins:

Who on earth leaves the alarm unarmed or off when leaving for extended time especially when they've got all that cash there? It would have been funny, sort of, if someone had broken in that evening knowing they were going to be gone at least overnight. We arm it always and don't have anywhere near that amount.

Anyone else notice that some of the cash appears to be withdrawn from the bank, complete with currency straps? I'm sure there may be an obvious explanation I'm overlooking, like MS buying his own currency straps. IMO it is one thing to have a cash business and keep some of that cash but if you're actually withdrawing large sums from the bank to just...keep it in your house? Why?

It will be interesting to see when he withdraw the cash from the bank or when he started withdrawing the funds.

ITA. And also, the amount for each withdrawal. Maybe this kind of activity caught the attention of the IRS and/or fraud specialists within the bank.

Very curious though. One would think having cash in the bank is not only safer but better if you are, for ex., looking to rent/buy another office space or any other high ticket item that will likely require account balance verification. What would MS say, come on over and look at my $40k in cash?

Perhaps it was part of MS plan... getting financially ready for his wife's demise? Enough cash to have on hand to get him through until the LI checks stated rolling in? I'm sure LE knows exactly when that money was withdrawn.

ETA ~ Nin, you snuck in here while I was posting with the same thoughts
