Check out this cake!! We went to breakfast and they had an amazing selection of cakes. They were multi layer and huge! The turquoise one with purple inside was fascinating. We couldn’t find a dessert menu and nothing was labeled.

The fireplace wall was beautiful. I had an omelet with spinach, feta cheese and tomatoes. I think that’s the most perfect biscuit I’ve ever seen. I brought half my meal home.

Your breakfast looks yummy!

I made this dish over the weekend - Chris Baber's Satay-Style Chicken Curry

It was AMAZING! I was a bit unsure how it was going to turn out, I didn't have honey so just added sweet chilli sauce. I roasted chicken breast and shredded them and added to the sauce. I added beansprouts too. And served with thin egg noodles. It was so scrummy, total comfort food, and easy to make.

I'll have the Smoked Salmon Benedict (Hollandaise on the side, please) :D

I'm in north GA visiting my friend who made pizza from scratch tonight. When her and her son went to Italy this past spring, they took cooking lessons. She put the crust ingredients in the "bread machine" thing. Then she made the sauce. She put olive oil on the pan, then laid the crust, spread olive oil again. We added sauce, cheese, tomato slices, Italian Seasonings, more cheese on one. The other had raw sausage, which I had never seen added to a pizza! Plus cheese, Italian Seasonings and turkey pepperoni.

It was good. They don't usually save leftovers because they say it's too soggy. However, I petitioned for saving the rest of the cheese & tomato pizza for lunch tomorrow. I can put it in the oven to crisp it back up. Yum!!
Those look amazing! What kind of pans did they bake the pizzas on @PayrollNerd ? I have a pizza stone, but those look different?

Speaking of omelets, I haven't done this for a while. "Omelet in a Bag" is a fun, fast, and easy way to cook the egg dish. You can customize omelets so everyone gets what they want :) Great cooking activity for children.

Omelet in a Bag
What a great idea ! :)

I asked my friend and this is her response:

I think I bought them at Belk, they are from France. I think it’s Emile Henry and they are at William Sonoma also but very pricey $59-75. I think I got mine on sale for like $30 a piece

DH made the monthly trip top Costco yesterday. He always gets one of their wonderful roast chickens that we enjoyed with roasted potatoes, a quick gravy, and salad. I'll have the second drumstick for lunch and make chicken salad. We usually get three meals out of one Costco chicken. We always get sockeye salmon at Costco, and this time the two large pieces are enough for four meals.

I asked DH to look for scones, but there were none, so he got a 4.6# tin of Walker's Shortbread. I've gotten the shortbread tins previously (for the holidays), but I don't think I've seen one that is quite as big as this one :D We'll have shortbread with English Breakfast Tea while we watch the Queen's state funeral ceremonies on Monday. Somber as it is, I'm impressed by the pageantry and precision of the various events thus far, and the choirs are amazing.

Today we went to Saxonburg Hotel for lunch. My two Uncle Bills had the Reuben sandwiches. I had the chicken club sandwich. It had grilled chicken breast instead of the typical sliced lunchmeat. The bread was 3 thick slices. I took out the middle slice it was so big! Everything was fresh and delicious.

I thought you were in Georgia. Now you're in PA? Hotel Saxonburg looks like a cool place. Lots of history.

Yup, last Thursday I left FL and went to GA first, to my friend's place. Then Monday, I went to my Uncle's in WV. Then Tuesday, we both went to my Uncle's in PA. We just got back to his place in WV about 30 minutes ago. My Uncle took me to the Capital Market in Charleston, WV for lunch.

We went to his favorite place, Soho's for lunch. I had the spaghetti & meatballs which came with fresh bread drizzled with olive oil. Uncle Bill had the soup of the day which was beef & noodles. It came with fresh bread too. The noodles looked fresh, like they must have made them or something. He said it was delicious!

We wandered thru the shops and the outdoor market. I bought 3 types of apples, peaches, and 2 heirloom tomatoes that are yellow with red stripes. I bought them so I can plant the seeds in my garden.

I leave WV tomorrow morning to go back to my friends in GA. Then next Wed. I'll head home to FL.

Your lunches sound good. Those are lovely looking tomatoes! We are fond of yellow tomatoes, supposed to be less acidic than red ones (but we buy red ones too).

I made apple crumble and custard tonight. The custard had a whole vanilla pod so the house is smelling lovely.

It has turned chilly here in the last few days, but like most people I speak to, we’re holding back on the heating just yet due to fuel costs. So it’s going to be log burner and cosy food for us,

On Saturday night we had dinner at The Crossings in Norcross, GA. The train goes by every hour and shakes the building. We go every time I visit.

We all had soup for our appetizer. Kristine had onion soup. Robert had lobster bisque. I had loaded baked potato. Our meals were delicious as usual. I had the 7 oz filet with sauteed spinach. Kristine had the double lobster tails with brussel sprouts. Robert had a NY Strip steak and a huge baked potato. We ordered cheesecake to go. I was overfull and didn't even try my plain cheesecake until this morning. K & R ate their strawberry cheesecakes out by the fire pit.

Tonight we went for Mexican food. I had one of their new dishes I'd never seen before. It was queso on the bottom of the plate, then some type of rice that had red peppers in it with grilled chicken strips on top. It was good and very filling. I liked that it was different from the typical meal of yellow rice, refriend beans and some tortilla with meat.

ARROZ CON POLLO Y QUESO

Steamy fresh rice, grilled chicken, and a layer of our famous cheese dip - $9.00

Love your photos.

I am fascinated by the combo of lobster with brussel sprouts!

I’m thinking our overseas friends won’t realise how Scottish this is, with the square and link sausage, and tattie scone. I’ve never had square sausage or tattie scone myself but could give them a good go right now! :D

Its actually very rare to get a hash brown on a breakfast here, we see that as very English! But it was a welcome addition, great for mopping up the plate :-)

We went back to Provinos tonight because I couldn’t stop thinking about their salad! It is soooo delicious! By chance we had the same sweet waitress. I explained how much I appreciated her ensuring I had a salad without mushrooms. So of course, she made me another one and gave me extra beets too.

This time I ordered Angel Hair Dalvina. The flavor combo was wonderful! The sauce was light, not heavy. I could only eat half. So my friends will finish it tomorrow as I’m returning to FL. I’m seriously thinking I’ve got to recreate this meal.

DETROIT – A Detroit restaurant is gaining some much-deserved national attention.

Freya, in Detroit’s Milwaukee Junction neighborhood along East Grand Boulevard, was named among 50 other restaurants in the U.S. on the latest update of the New York Times restaurant list, “50 places in America we’re most excited about right now,” which was posted this week.

It’s the only Michigan restaurant on the list...

As much as we enjoy gourmet dining, this place might be a little too trendy for us. Freya is also in a seedy Detroit neighborhood, so it's doubtful that we'd ever go there. That said, it's commendable that a Detroit eatery is featured on a NYT restaurant list.
