Last Sunday we went to Mexican Village for a change but had a lovely dinner on Friday at our favorite Picano's. I ordered a special - Portobello Mushroom Ravioli. The delicious pillows sat in a Marsala sauce and were topped with sliced Portobellos and sundried tomatoes. The dish was heavenly, and I enjoyed the leftovers yesterday. We made reservations for Thanksgiving with our niece, her boyfriend, and their little one. I just don't feel up to cooking Thanksgiving dinner this year. Here's Picano's Thanksgiving menu: Thanksgiving Menu
Last week I made turkey meatloaf with fresh spinach, sundried tomatoes, and goat cheese. This is my favorite go-to recipe for ground turkey; it makes great meatballs, too. We had cold meatloaf sandwiches the next day, and DH finished the rest with leftover roasted potatoes yesterday. Our refrigerator is bare; we'll need a major trip to Nino's this week. Tonight we're having sockeye salmon with Brussels sprouts.
We had an unseasonably warm fall but are now experiencing more normal chilly temperatures. We had a rain/snow mix for a few hours yesterday and could actually see measurable snow this week. My royal purple mum on the front porch still looks lovely, but we will get our holiday greens next weekend. Our fall cleanup crew came early Wednesday, and the guy who cleans our gutters came that afternoon. DH took down the windchimes, hauled the grill around to the garage, and put up the storm door in the kitchen (French doors to deck/patio/backyard). We're ready for winter
