Yum! Just had a great soup by DH starting with won ton base. From the chinese restaurant, he bought the base. On the side, they gave him a bit of chopped fresh cilantro.
He made a broth by sautéing simple white mushrooms in butter and a little won ton base. He seasoned it primarily with a tiny bit of Tabasco sauce. (In the end, the soup tasted a little peppery, not hot.) meanwhile, he defrosted frozen whole shrimp.
When the mushrooms fully flavored their own broth, and the shrimp were not frozen, he further heated the wonton base separately, so it was really hot. He added it to the mushrooms, then flash cooked the shrimp in the broth. Top with a bit of cilantro.
