My dishwasher rarely gets used. But it smells sour even tho it’s practically brand new. I got the filter basket out and wiped it. It didn’t have any food it in. Then I ran the sanitize cycle. It was almost 2 hours long!

I’m still not happy with the smell. It’s less but I can’t leave it hang open a lot either.

Today, on Amazon, I found garbage disposal cleaner tablets and dishwasher cleaner tablets. A friend swears by the garbage disposal cleaner. I’m going to give them a try.
We occasionally run a dishwasher cycle with baking soda. We also put baking soda in garbage disposal and let it sit for a while before using. When we're going to be away from home for several days or longer, I cut several lemons in half and put them in a bowl on the kitchen counter. Dryer sheets work well, too. No stale odor when we return.

both examples of cooking you mentioned are really gross especially eating off the counter top! As far as making a roast in the dishwasher, I think I read there are a lot of germs in a dishwasher- not very appetizing. Was this on Tik Toxic?
No, on Instagram. I follow some recipe sites so occasionally other cooking reels pop up.

A lot of the popular reels demonstrate mixing ingredients on the kitchen counter using bare hands. I don’t know if people actually do this in real life, or are just attempting to get “clicks.”

One video that popped up uninvited on Instagram showed a woman pouring jarred spaghetti sauce on a massive mound of cooked pasta on a countertop. After she started mixing it with her bare hand I quickly clicked off the reel. So gross!

I use Lemi Shine in my dishwasher with every load. It keeps it smelling clean and fresh.

“Adult Happy Meals” will return to McDonald’s soon, this time with a nostalgic ‘80s toy.

The new Kerwin Frost Box is the fast-food chain’s latest spin on the childhood classic set to arrive at U.S. restaurants starting Dec. 11, McDonald’s announced in a Nov. 29 news release...

I asked DH where the nearest McDonald's is because I think we should both get an Adult Happy Meal. I'd want Chicken McNuggets, while DH would probably opt for the Big Mac.

Nothing gross going on in my kitchen today. Starting dessert prep for Christmas activities.

5 dozen Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookie “meatballs” are in the freezer. Wrapped each dozen in parchment paper & stuffed them in a gallon baggie.

Next is regular ones for those that aren’t GF, like me!

I’m also going to make fudge & freeze it. I put an 8 x 8 pan size recipe in an 11 x 7 pan so it is thinner. Then I cut it in tiny pieces and wrap it in small packs.

This allows us to take out an assortment of desserts periodically. That way we do not have too much sitting around.
Great idea. I like to prep/make cookies in advance too.

My older sisters used to make fudge every Christmas. Almond bark too. Those two items remind me of being a little kid.

This is great. I love it! And, BTW, thanks for sharing. It actually means more than you know.
If this makes no sense, its because I had more than one window open and quoted the wrong post. Not even the right thread, lol.

A retired guy from my husband's work has a garden and invited my husband to harvest whatever he wanted before he closed up the garden for the winter. My husband came home with bags full of carrots, sunchokes, onions, leeks, kale. A bounty!

That's wonderful!

I texted my friend yesterday and said let me know if you need Romaine....... I'll pick it when you get here.

My favorite garbage disposal cleaners are lemon or orange rinds. They really clean it out. And it smells so nice afterwards.

I use lemon and orange rinds too. Also lime rinds, as we use a lot of limes.

You can use citrus rinds to keep your microwave fresh and clean as well. Just put several citrus rinds in a microwave bowl with a cup of water. Then cook the water until it boils for several minutes and steam fills the microwave. Then let it cool, and wipe the inside with a paper towel.

Yes, I am with you on the nuggets! I still buy myself Happy Meals and get the toys (only the cute ones like Hello Kitty and Beanie Babies).

I know a plumber who told me most clogs are from fats and oils that solidify in the pipes and crevices. So butter, marg, hair conditioner etc all cause clogs. #themoreyouknow

The continuing search for the best burger in Metro Detroit. DH met a friend there for lunch not too long ago and didn't think it was worth the money or the drive.

ROYAL OAK, Mich. – We are on the hunt for the very best hamburger in Metro Detroit.

Like you, we’re sick of these “top 10 burgers” lists put out by every news organization and their mother. That’s why Carmichael Cruz and I, Cassidy Johncox, are putting our arteries at risk as we taste our way through the burgers of Southeast Michigan.

Together, we’re going to try every burger we possibly can to narrow down the best of the best of Metro Detroit. And we’re taking you along for the ride.

We’ve visited Miller’s Bar, Grey Ghost, and Tommy’s Detroit Bar & Grill. Now, we’re stopping at a fan favorite in Royal Oak...

Would you all believe that I had a 7-11 breakfast this morning and it was actually OK?!

I've been seeing a lot of Korean convenience store and Japanese 7-11 videos lately and was influenced. Well, I go to my local 7-11 almost every day for my morning tea/walk. It is a decent store but I've never had a 7-11 food item before.

I managed to get a cheddar biscuit with egg and cheese with hash browns, an apple fritter and a medium coffee for less than $10! The fritter was the biggest, freshest donut I've had in ages! Cannot speak for other stores but I would actually compare this to a Dunkin Donuts or even dare I say, McDonalds breakfast sandwich.

The only reason why this is even a big deal to me is that I've walked 20 minutes to McDonalds or the mom and pop diner but they are both overpriced for what it is. The clerk heated it up while I made my coffee, it was perfect!

I had no idea I could get my lazy breakfast literally 10 minutes from my house, I'm way too happy about it :D

Oh, I am loving the rebellious spirit of ditching the typical "top 10 burgers" routine and going on a burger adventure in Southeast Michigan with Carmichael Cruz and Cassidy Johncox! Count me in for this culinary journey – there's nothing better than getting the real scoop on the local burger scene.

And now you've got me wondering, while you're conquering the burger world, any chance you'll stumble upon some hidden gems for brunch near me in Metro Detroit? A good burger is fantastic, but a brunch spot with the perfect eggs benny?

Welcome to Websleuths! For perfect Eggs Benedict, this is my go-to brunch restaurant. The Florentine is my favorite. I live in Rochester Hills. Shine Cafe in Troy Michigan

I finally got around to making cranberry sauce this morning. I wonder how it would taste with the latkes that DH will make tonight for the first night of Hanukkah. The crispy potato pancakes are delicious, and I always eat too many :D I'll have them with a little sour cream, but I am going to see if my homemade cranberry sauce goes well with latkes, too.

Cranberry sauce goes with everything. :)

The diner by me does eggs benny but I've never had them. They charge $17 CAD. Avocado toast is $17CAD with 2 eggs, fruit, and potatoes. Eggs Florentine is $17.50! Seems a bit steep but it's local and family run.

We’ve managed to move in only to find out that the very expensive stove I bought at the scratch and dent store has a faulty valve so it’s currently sitting in pieces in my kitchen waiting on a new valve. That leaves me with a hot plate, microwave and an air fryer to cook on. I may have toaster oven in the shed waiting to unpack yet. Tonight I managed to put together a chicken, asparagus and parmesan risotto for dinner. It feels like two steps forward one step back building this place.

Oh no. I know it’s discouraging, but it will start looking up very soon.
I know it will. Well, you’re moved in. So thumbs up on that! (Hugs)
