^ Safe travels, and have a wonderful weekend.
I grew up on ingredient meals, always served them and continue to. I keep very few convenience and junk foods in my house. Too unhealthy and we don’t need them. I always cook enough for supper that we have leftovers for lunch the following day.
What a bunch of whiners! Did they not bother to learn to cook when they were home with their parents? Good grief. Leftovers are the bomb!Something I have seen on social media sites, a lot of posts and conversations about “Ingredient meals.” People complain about having to put meals together from leftovers and share some of the meals they have come up with using only their leftovers.
Many of the posts complaining about “Ingredient Meals” are from college students. Heck, I would have been happy to have some good leftovers for meals when I was in college. Most of us lived on ramen noodles and generic boxed macarons cheese.
I guess I have relied on “Ingredient Meals” for most of my life, as we make many meals from leftovers I pull together from the refrigerator. In fact, I enjoy the challenge of creating a good meal using a combination of leftover vegetables from the produce drawer, bits of different cheeses, and whatever else I can find.
This was my immediate thought. Not to mention, also, that restaurant portions are too big for most folks to eat all the time. If these people are dining out or getting take-out for dinner, there should be leftovers for lunch the following day. When DH and I go out to eat, regardless of the mealtime, one or both of us always has leftovers for another meal. We no longer order two meals for take-out, either, because we are satisfied to share a dinner like fish & chips or a small pizza with a small salad. Everyone enjoys going out for breakfast, lunch, or dinner occasionally, and it's perfectly fine to order take-out once in a while, but it is certainly less costly and more healthy to eat homecooked meals most of the time. JMOI’ve seen that as well. I honestly don’t understand how they afford all of the eating out. But that’s a whole other subject line.
We love salmon patties. One of our favorite meals is salmon patties, baked beans, Mac n cheese, and biscuits.
Salmon Patties and fried potatoes sounds good- my husband makes the best fried potatoes, but he hasnt made them in years because they are a lot of work--- LOLSalmon patties, fried potatoes, peas, and sliced tomatoes are one of my favorite meals.
I love grilled salmon too!!!!We like salmon on the grill with white rice and black beans. Sometimes we'll open a can of peas also. I have 2 salmon steaks my uncle vacuum sealed for me still in the freezer. When my oldest comes home over Christmas, we are both looking forward to that meal.I love
I have a friend like this. She knows how to cook because we've shared recipes.@PayrollNerd I agree, a bunch of whiners. But many younger people haven’t bothered to learn to cook. I have worked with quite a few women who never cook dinner. Towards the end of the day they call or text their husbands to decide which of them is going to pick up dinner, or to discuss where they will order dinner or where they will go out to eat.
These same coworkers always order lunch delivery or go out to lunch every day.
We love fried potatoes too. Recently our 9 year old grandson was eating with us. We decided on hamburgers and fries. But DH was in charge of the potatoes and he made fried potatoes. Grandson had never had them. He thought they were a big deal!Salmon Patties and fried potatoes sounds good- my husband makes the best fried potatoes, but he hasnt made them in years because they are a lot of work--- LOL
