When I read DOI one thing (among many) that stood out to me was the almost total absence of any reference to Burke throughout the book. They didn't talk about the effect of his sister's death on him, getting him counselling, nothing. It's like they wanted readers to forget he existed. Surely if you're writing a book about your daughter's murder and its effect on the family, you'd talk about your remaining child a little more than they did?

LOL LI_Mom - I hope our two resident fruitcake posters don't see your comment or they'll be like 'hey, yeah - everyone was screming for....wait for it ...pineapple! Yeah!'

I think my laughing days with those two are OVER....

Anyway - I think Burke hears commotion, etc. comes downstairs, knows something has been found & asks what the heck they're going on about - the issue is that the ramseys lied about him being awake. It's also strange they would send him back to bed to 'stay put' until someone gets him- if you think your daughter has been taken from your home under your noses & you're being 'monitored' I'd keep my son by my side & try to explain as gently as possible what the situation is....

Exactly!

On the one hand, we have Burke coming downstairs asking what he can do to help.

On the other hand, we have parents saying the kid would fall apart if he knew there was a crisis so they leave him upstairs alone.

Huh?!!!

If you think about it, they didn't spend that much time talking about JB either.

It was basically all about Patsy & John & how mean the media & the police were to them. One long WHINE-FEST.

The autopsy photo of the bruised spot on JBR's cheek/neck...

The broken paintbrush which was used in the garotte, could the end of it have been pressed firmly upon her cheek to have caused the bruising as it was being pulled tight to strangle her? It is a round bruise about the same size you would guess the diameter of the broken paintbrush to be...

If the killer was sitting facing JBR and pulling the garotte taunt from the front rather than from the back, the paintbrush end would be on the side of JBR's cheek and as the killer was adding more pressure the end of the paintbrush would have pressed into her cheek causing the bruise... No...?

Putting aside the DNA evidence, what other evidence convinces you that the Ramsey's are guilty? I agree that some things about the case are suspicious...

1. The fake ransom note. No reason for (even if Patsy had disguised her authorship by cutting letters out, like ransom notes are supposed to be done!) it other than an attempt to clearly indicate the presence of Mr Intruder.

2. Ramsey behavior.

a. By all accounts Patsy seemed to know JonBenet was dead when she was "found" in the basement. No denial, just the immediate resurrection request.

b. They did nothing after finding her bed empty and "checking on Burke." They didn't leave the house or conduct any search beyond that. In desperation, hope, anything, they would have looked outside, down the street/alley.

3. Avoiding police, cooperation.

4. Their book & other statements & interviews revealing less than an obsession with the mysterious individual who devasted their family and instead a grudge against those who suspect or criticize them.

EXACTLY! Even by John's own admission...in his 98 interview...he says that he stepped outside... for....and this is a direct quote..."30 seconds". WOW!! 30 whole whopping seconds. Yep, that is enough time to search for his missing daughter...

He doesn't want them thinking HE disposed of evidence.... not much he could do in 30 seconds.

But hey... if you hid everything the night before & arranged to have your sister-in-law pick up a ton of very important personal belongs.... you really don't have to worry about disposing of evidence.

Yeah and wasn't he checking doors or something? Why not run to the intersection, scan as far as possible, as quick as possible. Somehow their actions that morning are indicative that they knew she was long gone, in some sense or other.

Patsy makes he 911 call and HANGS UP (add that to the list) and then they do nothing. Zero. But the fact she hangs up says volumes. The 911 operator is her link to help, to recovering her kidnapped daughter. Who may have had instructions or whatever, but Patsy hangs up to get ready for Act 2.

I don't think the cheek bruising was caused by the broken paintbrush. There would have been splintered wood where it was snapped, and tiny fragments of this would have been seen at autopsy. It likely would have broken the skin as well. But then again, who knows how closely the actual abrasion was examined? There were the same type of abrasions on her back in a double pattern, in a area where the paintbrush handle probably wouldn't reach.

Points taken, but maybe, just maybe there was this evidence and it is some of the 'held back' information that we are not privy to as of today...

Question, do you guys think there was a typo/mistake or were two 'body bags' used w/JBR?

The sterile sheet was wrapped around her body, then she was put into a white body bag and then into a black body bag...????...

I am rescanning my JBR books and notes, looking for anything I missed, and noticed on pg 29 of PMPT it says, "tiny black body bag was wheeled out on a stretcher' and on pg 40 it says, "Attendants unsealed a heavy white plastic bag, revealing JonBenet's body."

I don't know how bodies are transfered but it would make sense that one bag is used to protect any evidence that might fall from the body & the black bag is reused over & over.

Burke claims that he heard his bedroom door open, the light turned on, and so he claims he feigned sleep. He also says he hears Patsy say "Oh my gosh!, Oh my gosh!".

The 911 call picks up Burke's voice...."What did you find?"

Now that tells me this 9-year-old got out of bed to see what the commotion was all about. I believe he goes downstairs while Patsy is on the phone dialing 911. He sees his father reading the note. He asks John, "What did you find?" John replies harshly..."We're not talking to you!"

Well, who are "We" talking to, if not Burke?

Toltec,

We must be talking to the 911 people, so go back to bed and remember what I told you to say!!!
