Times Square would make sense with the strict gun laws in NY. They wouldn't worry about a confrontation with an armed citizen. I imagine they will avoid cities like Dallas or Miami for the same reason.

I don't think they care. They don't feel threatened or frightened by guns, bombs, ground troops, air strikes, anything. They want to die anyway, what difference does it make if someone at the scene has a gun?

IMO that's one of the things that makes them the worst possible enemy. They don't have any rules.

Cyberwar between Islamic State and Anonymous heats up with planned attacks from both sides

THE cyberwar between Anonymous and Islamic State has just escalated, with the terror group firing back and innocent victims getting caught in the crossfire.

Just as Anonymous took responsibility for removing more than 5500 Twitter accounts linked to Islamic State, the terrorist organisation has responded with a message of its own.

http://www.news.com.au/technology/o...s/news-story/80f51e93666dd7d3815489868f1dd49c

I see not everyone is convinced this is such a great idea ......

A leading French security blogger claims the hacking collective is doing more harm than it realises.

Oliver Laurelli said the appeal to get involved might seem enticing, but it would ultimately hinder the efforts of law enforcement and intelligence organisations as it shuts down potential points of investigation for police.

“Young people identify with it and feel they can act but it is counter-productive. It is more embarrassing for the police than anything else,” she told AFP.

“Twitter has been quick to close down a large number of accounts but I don’t know if it’s a good idea.”

Professor Matthew Warren from Deakin University also questioned the effectiveness of the campaign saying it was more politically driven hacktivism than a cyber war.

I love you, Mrs G, but I think what we are doing right now is NOT over-reacting, and prudently assessing before the jerking of the knees....

JMO

Yes, you're probably right, this is a lot better than all the talks of getting a posse together after 911, and look where that got us!

So long story short, we're doing nothing.

We have an active air war going against ISIS along with occasional special forces operations. What we are not going to do is send in several divisions of ground forces. In part because that is exactly what ISIS wants us to do.

Agreed. First rule of negotiation is to find your opponent's currency.

When they have none, it is just scary.

"The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion."

-Albert Camus

I think that by panicking to every half-azzed media report or worse, social media rumors, and seeing danger in the patterns in the wallpaper, we are not only playing into the hands of these terrorists, but doing their jobs FOR them.

Yeh Blue that is what I have said several times. As resonabile people (maybe!) we believe a gun or getting caught will deter. But the truth is , if I am wearing a sucide vest all odds are off - whatver they want or plan to do they are gonna do it , only variable is which way their hearts quit beating -- that leaves pretty much the rest of us powerless-- cause we cant grasp the notion of putting on socks and bombs on our body and headin out the door -- i even think LE dont quite get it , like they can do something about it ... if the are wearing dynamite on their person

its all pretty much up to them...................IMO

Oh no, it got us somewhere, running away from people they are wearing dynamite - BUT I say again, what we call terrorism they call war, what they call terrorism we call it war ., both feel justified in what they are doing

and..................that translates to no end ..............its circular .and endless, all of us now going overthere and bombing the heck out of em .....all it does it breed more people that want to snap on some synamite and pay a visit --- thats it

and if one blew up your family by deep notions are you might feel pretty pi**ed at the party that did it

and look at the firepower we, have after a decade and half, they have altered our existance far more than we have them ...thats just the truth

and it seems like this is really just the begining obvioulsy they are relaly over being bombed

BBM I agree. And although our way hasn't worked and we will never use what we call terrorism to fight them so we have to find another way.

Putin's jets going after ISIS oil:

Russia says its planes will attack any tanker trucks travelling through territory belonging to the Islamic State group in Syria, as Moscow looks to ratchet up pressure on the jihadists.

'Today a decision was taken according to which Russian warplanes are now flying on a so-called 'free hunt' against tanker trucks carrying oil products belonging to terrorists in areas controlled by IS,' senior Russian military official Andrei Kartapolov was quoted as saying by Russian news agencies on Wednesday.

Kartapolov said that Russian aviation had already destroyed some 500 fuel trucks over the past 'few days' transporting oil from Syria to refineries in Iraq.

CNN seems to lose grasp of the goal of terrorism , posted last thread forgot by whom but I thought it was stunning

all they want is to control the information space

cnn is now carrying on about antoher threat to times square come on ya all just report when the next event happens

quit giving attention to threats real or false ,,

ok we have a threat to times square - is anyone gonna be able to do anything about it until it happens again no, so quit giving them what they want air time

cover Paris , it happened , that is the story now

and boy over here is this gonna be a joke once it gets back to election 16, closing all our borders , that is obserd.....

Folks not in the USA , dont we oftne end up the laughing stock of the world with our folks focusing on each others hairdos, and who was tweeting pictures of his underpants, and who is sleeping wiht who, and emails , bla bla

There has not been one intleigent coversation yet about an issue, they are IMO like children in a playground fighting. The CEO of France took action. If it happened here, Obama has to wait for congress to come back from a coctail party !!! Over here all our falling apart is about congress.......................

'Paris attacks: 'Barbarism will not win in France', father of Bataclan victim Hugo Sarrade says'
By Europe correspondent Barbara Miller
Updated Thu Nov 19 12:18:50 AEST 2015
Posted Thu Nov 19 10:53:08 AEST 2015

'He wants to dedicate himself in Hugo's memory to somehow spreading a message to the next generation, the one so heavily targeted in the attacks on the nightspots of Paris; bars, restaurants and the Bataclan, all popular with 20 and 30-somethings.

Stephane Sarrade says by talking about Hugo, he feels he is still with him.

Audio: http://mobile.abc.net.au/news/2015-11-19/he-was-exceptional-because-he-was-my-son:-stephane/6953422

Stephane, a scientist, says for the "rest of my life, that will be my work".

"They wanted to kill this generation, they wanted to kill hope, and that's barbarism, and I don't want that to continue, and I would like to give hope to the next generation," he says.

I send Stephane an email just before writing this piece to thank him for talking to us.

The response comes quickly.

"It was a fantastic, human-to-human experience," he says.

"Please inform the world that barbarism will not win in France and we are still standing, facing fear and sorrow.

"All the best", he signs off, "and keep loving your children".'

Cnn carrying on again - - lets rewind to Firday at 9 PM. But lets put 2000 LE on the streets at 905 PM ....people seem to think there would be a difference.... I disagree LE has to be careful they cant be shooting through crowds

what would be different if we had 2000 on the street last Firdy in pAris ?

Some guy from NY is now claiming that NY cops would go after them in spite of their own safety.............LE in Paris has been spectacular, brave , herroic , they did not have to go through 47 layers of command ---they were amazing no?
