"The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion."

-Albert Camus

I think that by panicking to every half-azzed media report or worse, social media rumors, and seeing danger in the patterns in the wallpaper, we are not only playing into the hands of these terrorists, but doing their jobs FOR them.

JMO, MOO

This reminds me of the IMO misguided point Obama was attempting to make. When the leader of the United States mocks those who are not in agreement with the Syrian refugee plan and want the process to slow down by saying they are afraid of "widows and children" and then further making fun of their fear, he is the one making a "half a@@ed" statement to the world. Isis has infiltrated refugees in Europe and slaughtered innocent civilians. Why should we not have a healthy dose of fear and concern that the same thing could happen here? Oh I forgot, according to him, the "JV team" has been contained. We are talking about our national security here, and if having fear over that is the equivalent of seeing "danger in the patterns in the wallpaper" then I guess I must have been staring at my wallpaper for way too long. It's a sad sad day when one feels fear, panic, or any other range of negative emotion when looking at what is going on in our world right now and instead of being allowed to have those feelings and concerns, they are accused of playing into the hands of these terrorists and even doing their job for them.

The entire operation likely didn't cost more than $10,000 when weapons, explosives, housing and transportation are factored in, NBC News has learned.
"I would note that although the attacks were coordinated, the actual method was basic bombs and guns," one senior counterterrorism official said.

the AK-47s bought on the black market would have been the biggest expense.

  • The twin truck bombings of U.S, embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, which killed more than 200 people in 1998: $10,000.
  • The bombing of the USS Cole in Yemen, which killed 17 people in 2000: $5,000 to $10,000.
  • A plot to attack U.S. ships in the Strait of Hormuz, which was foiled in 2002: $130,000.
  • The suicide and car bombings in Bali, which killed more than 200 in 2002: $74,000.
in New York, one of the most expensive cities in the world, terrorism can be carried out on a shoe-string.
An NBC News analysis of court records from the 1993 World Trade Center bombing showed the total cost was around $18,000,

This just struck me as funny, if your putting dynomite around your belly -- one think you really give a s@it about a phone bill!!

Sept. 11 plotters spent between $400,000 and $500,000 to plan and carry out the hijackings — with up to $300,000 of that for living expenses.

Belgium itself has gained the distinction of being the highest per-capita supplier of recruits for jihad in the Middle East.

Similarly, the French police — and their special security service, the Direction de la Surveillance du Territoire (DST) — have “Q” files that indicate persons of interest who may have been investigated in the past. There are reports already that at least one of the Paris attackers had a “Q” file and had been followed for a time. In Britain, n the six months after the 9/11 attacks, the Central Intelligence Agency tells us, it and its allies swept 2,500 individuals with terrorist connections off the streets in many countries.Expect something similar to happen here.

I'm with you 100%.

"We are not well served when, in response to a terrorist attack, we descend into fear and panic."

We can be frightened - how could we not be? - but we don't have to let it change who we are nor do we have to let it dictate how we act.

In 2014, acts of terror cost the world $US 52.9 billion

$US 51.51 billion in the aftermath of September 11 ,

Isis............killing more than 20,000 people last year, the study showed.

Assad: no political process while 'terrorists' in Syria
19th November 2015

"Syrian President Bashar Assad has told Italian state television that no political process can begin while "terrorists" occupy his nation.
Assad in an interview shown Wednesday night said "nothing can start before defeating the terrorists who occupy parts of Syria."
.....

Assad said if Syria's people want presidential elections "there will be no red line" against holding them. Asked how much territory the government still controls, 4 1/2 years into a civil war, Assad replied, "geographically speaking, the situation changes day by day.""

Syria No breeding ground for IS:Assad

"Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said Wednesday his country was not a breeding ground for the Islamic State group, blaming the creation of the jihadist organisation on the West."I can tell you Daesh doesn't have the natural incubator, social incubator, within Syria," he said in a television interview with Italian national broadcaster Rai, using the Arabic acronym for the IS group.
Jihadists who trained in Syria for the Paris massacres and other attacks had done so due to "the support of the Turks and the Saudis and Qatari, and of course the Western policy that supported the terrorists in different ways," he insisted.
IS "didn't start in Syria, it started in Iraq, and it started before that in Afghanistan," he said, quoting former British prime minister Tony Blair as saying "the Iraqi war helped create ISIS".
Blair's "confession is the most important evidence," Assad added."

A major cyber attack on the U.S. electric grid could cause over a $1 trillion in economic impact and roughly $71.1 billion in insurance claims, said a report released Wednesday.
The report looks at the financial impact of a scenario in which 15 states and Washington, D.C. suffer a blackout as a result of a cyber attack on the power grid. o darkness. While the scenario seems unlikely, it’s technically possible to realize, the re

What it would take is a malware that infects the computers that control power plants, and in this case, the malicious code takes control of 50 generators and causes them to overload or even catch fire. Also in this scenario, utilities are able to restore power in some areas within 24 hours but spend several weeks to do the same for other parts.

Terrorists 'Move Out of Unsafe Base in Raqqa' First name
Surname
Receiver's email

19th November 2015

"ISIL is reportedly moving fighters and family members out of its self-declared capital, Raqqa, as an intensified air campaign by coalition forces begins to bite.

Militants in ISIL's so-called caliphate across Syria and Iraq have faced several setbacks over the past week, Kurdish forces splitting a key cross-border supply line, and a US-led military coalition targeting its oil smuggling network and killing dozens of militants."

...

"Local activists say the increased bombardment, including last week's assassination of the executioner known as Jihadi John, has spread fear and paranoia through the militants' ranks. "It's really affecting people, they are getting worried," said Abu Ibrahim al-Raqqawi, a spokesman for Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently, a group of anonymous media activists who risk their lives to smuggle information out of the city.
"If they are gathered together, the fighters will scatter in all directions when a drone or a war plane is seen overhead. They hide among the people, they run into houses," he said."

The "blonde" suicide bomber (who was wearing a wig...IMO)

Paris attacks: Hasna Aitboulahcen western Europe's first female suicide bomber

Snip

Police now believe the female suicide bomber was 26-year-old Hasna Aitboulahcen, the cousin of the suspected mastermind of the Paris attacks, Abdelhamid Abaaoud, according to Le Parisien.

She had been under surveillance since Tuesday, according to reports, and had been sheltering alongside Abaaoud and a group of men in the apartment building north of Paris.

Aitboulahcen was born in 1989 in France and was a French-Moroccan citizen, according to reports.

Wait. What??? They had these clues??? And did nothing??

"Only 72 hours prior to the massacre that killed at least 129 in Paris, four credible IS-linked social media accounts began sharing messages including images of weapons, the Eiffel Tower, and blessings for the attackers’ mission, Fox News reported.
Translations of the messages include “God bless you in your mission” and “Support the deployment”, as well as references to our “sister”, suggesting an operative, or member of the support team was female.
