It took her two days to prove it. It's unfortunate if she had nothing to do with it.From the Mail article.
Ms Autefort's home was searched by police but she was able to provide them with an alibi and was released without charge.
She too was freed when she was able to prove to them that she was elsewhere during the murder.
Yes that’s what puzzles me, I thought she was at the wine tasting too,so could have easily followed Karen home or been waiting for her. They don't mention her alibi. Some of the previous articles claimed that she was at the wine-tasting event, too.
SBM. That explains how she could get close to him. Since he is no longer the president he got close to someone else.
Mrs Carter jointly ran the bar with Guerrier, a former executive with Fujitsu Services, and the pair were seen as key to the Café Village buzz along with the Carters’ 69-year-old neighbour, who was questioned and released after the murder and whom police described as “a close friend of the couple”.
If she had witnesses that could have been established quickly. She was detained for nearly two days. Apparently it has been an ordeal for her and now she left town. I wonder if she had any other connection with the victim. This was from The Times article, posted on here recently.
So maybe the lady who was questioned helped at the cafe and was still there on the night Karen was attacked? If other people saw her there after the wine tasting that could be her alibi.

Lover of British woman stabbed to death in France breaks his silence

She left around 10pm
and had promised to phone him
when she was home safe
but never made a call."

I have been wondering about that phone call.
This is a village where nothing ever happens, or so they say.
So why should someone call to tell that they arrived home safely? And even promised to do so? Within the same tiny village?

In one of the articles posted earlier her neighbor was quoted saying that he saw them together walking towards her house in a late afternoon just a few days prior. The person remarked that they looked like they were a couple. If we are to believe the newspapers, the relationship was new and still kept under wraps. Maybe he planned to arrive quietly, and that’s all to it? They didn’t need to demonstrate their relationship, so he simply arrived ten minutes later, as it was agreed between them?
It would be interesting to know if it was their style, not to disclose their relationship and for him to arrive to her house not with her, but a tad later?
Then someone who lived close by and watched their comings and goings could be in the loop.
