So I went out again and now there are two hostages held in a store in Montpellier, South of France. Which was one of my favorite cities when I lived in France and I am sick, sick of this terror.

Oh Zwiebel this is just awful.

Our family spent a delightful holiday in Montpellier several years ago - such a wonderful part of France.

My heart really hurts for France at the moment - and to be honest I am afraid because it could quite easily be Germany or the UK next and I fear this may be the start of a truly terrible period in our history.

oh god those photos of innocent guys getting profiled, but I get the high tension and maybe they didn't stop :(

I read somewhere that (per BFMTV) the terrorist did not hang up the phone correctly after talking to the police and they were able to listen in to what was going on. Now I can't find it.

Right!

19 h 2. Porte de Vincennes : les policiers ont pu entendre pendant un long moment Amedi Coulibaly grâce à un téléphone qu'il aurait mal raccroché, révèle BFM TV.

Would these terrorists really believe so much in FREE PRESS and FREEDOM OF SPEECH that they were not aware that the Police might be listening?

but the jewellery store situation is surely a robbery?

Beautiful cities like Paris have become battlefields, 'thanks' to these fanatics.

That is what's being said. A robbery.

Indeed.

I misread a post and thought the jewellery hostage taker had spoken to the TV and claimed to be part of ISIL. Apologies.

Whoever that robber is, they are a bit rubbish if robbery was their ultimate objective as there is no way they will get away with any jewels now.

"Police confirmed the death of the two brothers, who had been cornered and holding at least one hostage in a printing house northeast of Paris, in the small industrial town of Dammartin-en-Goele. A hostage was freed safely.

A security official said the two brothers came out firing, prompting the assault on the building where they were holed up.

In the other hostage-taking, police raided a kosher market in eastern Paris where a gunman had taken at least five hostages. That gunman was killed in the raid, along with at least four hostages, French President Francois Hollande confirmed in an address to the nation.

"It is indeed an appalling anti-Semitic act that was committed," he said of the hostage-taking at the Hyper Cacher supermarket in the Vincennes district. An Israeli government official, recounting a conversation between Prime Minister
Benjamin Netanyahu and the French president, said 15 hostages were rescued from the kosher grocery.

BMFTV MADE CONTACT WITH SUSPECTS DURING THIS FRIDAY

Translation:

BMFTV reports
http://www.bfmtv.com/societe/bfmtv-a-ete-en-contact-avec-les-terroristes-856576.html

BFM TV has been in contact with two terrorists during this day on Friday. They claimed responsibility for their actions. One of them reported a synchronization between their actions.

BFMTV followed live on Friday the two simultaneous taking of hostages in Seine-et-Marne and Paris.

One of the killers of Charlie Hebdo, Cherif Kouachi, who was in contact with BFMTV Friday morning, confirmed during the morning having been commissioned by "Al Qaeda in Yemen" and been trained by Imam Anwar Al Awaki. "We are defenders of the prophet," he said. It was while trying to join witnesses at the printing company that our reporter was in contact with the very man who is considered the leader of the attack against Charlie.

Amedy Coulibaly, the terrorist at la Porte de Vincennes, did contact himself BFMTV at 15hrs during the hostage taking. He said he wanted to get in touch with the police.

The hostage taker at the kosher grocery testified that he "synchronized" with the Charlie killers: "For them Charlie Hebdo, myself the police officers," Coulibaly Amedy said. He for one confirmed to belong to the Islamic State.

{Amedy Coulibaly] on his turn said to belong to the Islamic State and follow the instructions of the caliphate.
He explained his actions by saying he was defending the oppressed Muslims, especially in Palestine.
And he chose to take to the grocery store "Hyper Cacher" because he was targeting "the Jews."

Looking at these photos it is literally a 5 minute walk from my mother's on the very same street, happening outside her window. She heard explosions and shots all afternoon, heard constant sirens and screeching. It brought back bad memories of her childhood in WW2 and of living for years in Belfast during the worst of it with a bomb exploding in the hospital the very hour I was born. We then went to the safety of New Zealand for 25 years. And now this, in the safety of her own home in the streets of Paris.

Chilling pictures of terrorist and his girlfriend in 2010

Le Monde reports:
http://www.lemonde.fr/societe/portf...urce=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter#xtor=RSS-3208

In 2010, in the Cantal, on the occasion of visits to Djamel Beghal, convicted of terrorism and a known convert of the radical movement Takfir, considered a sect within the Salafi community, these pictures were taken of Amedy Coulibaly and his companion Hayat Boumeddiene, during practice of crossbow shooting.

Hayat Boumeddiene is still unaccounted for and considered armed and dangerous.
