Fortunately, he spoke inside the Synagogue. In the video, you can see how close his security detail was to him. They were constantly scanning the crowd. I can't imagine what it must feel like to have a huge target on your back.
Actually anyone living in Israel has a huge target on their back at all times. They are completely surrounded by enemies. There is no where that is "safe" in the sense of what most of us would consider as "safe". Israelis are smart, vigilant, brave & determined. It is not a place where someone faint of heart would want to live. Everyone is required to serve a certain amount of time in the armed forces so they are all prepared to defend themselves, if necessary. I have been privileged to visit Israel & have the utmost respect & admiration for them. And, no, I am not Jewish.
