Interesting that he chose not to give the money to his own children, if not his ex-wife.

In my limited experience, based on what I was told by a Muslim I worked with some years ago, that is fairly normal. Basically the obligation on a Muslim man is to look after his mother. Outside of the marriage he does not provide for his wife because (a) she should have property and savings of her own which are hers inalienably under Sharia and (b) it is the obligation of her son(s) to look after her.

If a woman does not have at least one son there is nobody who is obligated to look after her in later life. A daughter belongs to her husband's family and has no obligations to her mother.

Whom did the France attack hurt disproportionately? Tourists to Nice, and Muslims

Final count of 84 victims shows that 38 were from different countries, and 35 were Muslim, said a local Imam.

“It hurts me when people tell me to go back to where I came from. I was born in France, grew up in France. I was educated in France. What do we have to do to finally be accepted as French?” asked Boubakri, who is also a member of the regional Union of Independent Islamic Institutions.

“People are emotional and they want to blame Muslims for terrorism, but we’re really the biggest victims of terrorism, here and abroad,” he said.

PARIS -- French lawmakers voted Wednesday in favour of extending the nation's state of emergency for another six months and jittery Paris officials cancelled some summer events due to security issues

Officials say five unidentified people remain in custody for possible links to the Nice truck attack and could face terrorism charges.

Authorities are bracing for copycat attacks. Paris police cancelled events including open-air free movie showings and a car-free day on the city's famed Champs-Elysees boulevard.

Police are also deploying in larger numbers around Paris Plages, a monthlong beach event that kicked off Wednesday with sand and summer activities on embankments along the Seine River. Paris police will now use concrete barriers to block areas with large crowds in hopes of preventing the kind of carnage that occurred in Nice, when a driver rammed his truck through a crowd of pedestrians.

"Bastille Day truck attack had been planned for 'several months' and terrorist Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel had 'support and accomplices' before he killed 84 people in Nice, a prosecutor has revealed.

Prosecutor Francois Molins said five suspects currently in custody are facing preliminary terrorism charges for their alleged roles in helping Bouhlel, in a judicial inquiry opened on Thursday.

Molins said information from the terrorist's phone showed searches and photos that indicated he had been studying an attack since 2015."

But the neighbours never noticed anything, except that he would drink alcohol, eat pork and party with men and women.
The same old song that we have heard too many times before.
Why do they even bother to interview those neighbours? Why do some attach such importance to what the neighbours say?

Does anyone really expect that a perp will tell his neighbours?
Or put a note on the front door: Do Not Disturb, Am Currently Preparing Terror Attack???

Well, there goes my theory that something happened in his personal life very recently that caused him to retaliate against the world in a rage.

I'm very curious about his accomplices.

A positive story of how a father and his young daughter survived amongst heartbreaking tragedy.

"A California man who was lucky to escape the Nice terror attack with minor injuries has explained how he owes his life to a Good Samaritan that saved him.

Greg Krentzman was on vacation with his wife and daughter in Nice when a man drove a truck into a crowd celebrating Bastille Day on July 14, killing 84 people and injuring more than 250 others.

Krentzman said he was standing several feet from his family to take a photograph when his wife, Sophie, saw the truck coming right at them.

'My wife screamed out, ''Greg, look out, there's a truck!'' Krentzman told KTLA 5 News."

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ng-daughter-recounts-stranger-saved-life.html

It is tragic this attack was planned for months and nobody from French intelligence was able to find out information about it. The intelligence agencies across the globe can only do so much with limited resources available they cannot prevent every attack. However I am very angry that no blockades were up to stop this large lorry being able to go down the promenade. I am also angry that this truck was never searched and the driver questioned. I want to know why blockades were not up? In addition why was this lorry allowed near the area when vehicles this size were supposed to be banned during this event. Even if there wasn't a risk of a terrorist attack people could have been knocked down on the promenade with thousands of people walking around. It should
have been common sense to block traffic on that promenade during this event terrorism risk or not.

Finally I'd like to know if the French authorities are indeed lying about the driver claiming the lorry was refrigerated and if the driver really did claim he was selling ice cream or if it's a cover up. If the claim about him selling ice cream is true why did nobody think it was odd he never took any out of the back of the lorry?

The French authorities really dropped the ball securing this event with lack of security and no bollards up to stop traffic being able to drive down the promenade. 84 men, women and children are dead because of these failings and the French need to do more to protect the public. You have to wonder how much security there is in France outside Paris. I saw on the news there were only 62 police officers protecting this event in Nice with thousands of people attending which is totally unacceptable. France is supposed to be at the highest terrorist alert level and lessons need to be learned from this tragedy. If there are large public gatherings in France from now on and even in other countries too large vehicles/or all vehicles need to be banned nearby with bollards up.

Apologies for ranting but this attack is so upsetting seeing the photo of the little girl dead beside her doll will stay with me for the rest of my life.

I was in France a few months ago. My SO tours there frequently. We had noticed increased police presence at festivals and club dates. ESP random checks by multiple officers with large guns but we were mainly in Paris the last trip and immediate towns outside Paris. Further out the police presence wasn't as strong. It was very strong in Spain last week.

The man who drove a truck into a crowd in Nice, France, killing 84 people, plotted his July 14 attack for months with "support and accomplices," Paris prosecutor Francois Molins said Thursday.

Molins said authorities are investigating five suspects who are in custody on terror charges related to the attack that Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel carried out on Bastille Day, France's main national holiday.

One suspect allegedly sent Bouhlel a Facebook message saying, "Load the truck with tons of iron and cut the brakes. I'll look brother."

Bouhlel, 31, drove a 20-ton truck through hundreds who had gathered to watch the Bastille Day fireworks on the Mediterranean city's waterfront.

An analysis of cell phone and computer content -- including a photo of last year's Bastille Day fireworks event focused on the crowd -- showed Bouhlel had been planning the assault since at least 2015, Moins said.

The cell phone content also included information on the drug Captagon, an amphetamine pill that can cause a surge of energy and a euphoric high. Jihadist fighters sometimes use this drug.

"The investigation underway since the night of July 14 has progressed and not only confirmed the murderous premeditated nature of Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel's act but also established that he benefited from support and accomplices," Molins said at a news conference.

I agree! I don't know if it's ignorance or lack of resources. France should be at the highest level of security due to other horrific terrorist attacks there recently.

All IMO. I don't know the answer to this horrific problem.

Four men and one woman were presented Thursday morning before the judge because they were in contact with Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel before the attack on July 14 in Nice, the Paris prosecutor François Molins said on Thursday.
They are:
Ramzi A. Franco-Tunisian born November 28, 1994 in Nice,
Chokri C., Tunisian born July 11, 1979,
Mohamed Walid G. Franco-Tunisian born 19 February 1976
Artan H., Albanian born on 30 January 1978
and Enkeledja Z., born March 3, 1974, of French and Albanian nationality.
All but Ramzi A. - sentenced to six times between 2013 and 2015 for ordinary crimes - have a clean record.
They were not known the specialized intelligence services.

According to Francois Molins, the killer was able to benefit "of support and complicity in the preparation and commission of the criminal act."
The prosecutor explained that 1278 calls were recorded between the killer and Mohamed Walid G. in the space of one year. The latter wrote to him in particular on January 10, 2015, after the attacks on Charlie Hebdo: "I am not Charlie ... I'm happy. They brought the soldiers of Allah to finish the job."

The killer also had some 150 telephone contacts with Chokri C., who advised him in a Facebook post last April to: "load the truck, put in 2,000 tons of iron, cut the brakes my friend and I shall be watching."
"The links between individuals and the author of the attack are also revealed through weapons and trucks," according to François Molins. On the truck papillary traces were found on the passenger door of Chokri C., and a photo taken on July 11 shows Mohamed Walid G. inside the truck.
Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel "was able to get his gun through three people now accused," according to Francois Molins.

The sinister revelation concerning the man who murdered 84 people using a 19-tonne lorry in Nice a week ago came as five accomplices were charged with carrying out a range of terrorist crimes.

At 5pm on July 14th, the day of the Riviera bloodbath, Lahouaiej-Bouhlel recording the message saying: 'Chokri and his friends are ready for next month, they are currently with Walid.
