It would depend on how this family defines LOVE. Where was the love when KC was stealing from grandma, mom and Lee? Where was the love when KC was out partying instead of being at home with her own child? Where was the love when a mental health specialist recommended KC find other housing and start acting like an adult?
IMO this isn't love, it's enabling. I'm a mother who dearly loves her children but I would never tolerate, excuse or justify from any of my children the disrepectufl, rude, deceitful, selfish and criminal behavior that KC has been allowed all of her life.

I guess what I am trying to say I am doing a poor job of. I agree with you, this kind of "love" Cindy has for Casey is very dangerous. Rather than correcting her and teaching her morals and values the lazy, emotionally unintelligent, immature sorry excuse for parenting did not prepare Casey for adult life, it set her up to fail miserably. In her mind she may love Casey, but it is from a rather skewed vantage point. I still stand by my feeling that Cindy is very concerned about how this reflects on Cindy. How else do you explain a RN being in such denial that she doesn't drag the teenager to a doctor to get the VITAL PRENATAL CARE, A NURSE VERY WELL UNDERSTANDS TO BE NEEDED. I agree with Kent, there is some serious undiagnosed mental problems there. I am glad we can peacefully exchange ideas, it is how we learn how other members of the jury may think, eh?
Children Learn What They Live
By Dorothy Law Nolte, Ph.D.
If children live with criticism, they learn to condemn.
If children live with hostility, they learn to fight.
If children live with fear, they learn to be apprehensive.
If children live with pity, they learn to feel sorry for themselves.
If children live with ridicule, they learn to feel shy.
If children live with jealousy, they learn to feel envy.
If children live with shame, they learn to feel guilty.
If children live with encouragement, they learn confidence.
If children live with tolerance, they learn patience.
If children live with praise, they learn appreciation.
If children live with acceptance, they learn to love.
If children live with approval, they learn to like themselves.
If children live with recognition, they learn it is good to have a goal.
If children live with sharing, they learn generosity.
If children live with honesty, they learn truthfulness.
If children live with fairness, they learn justice.
If children live with kindness and consideration, they learn respect.
If children live with security, they learn to have faith in themselves and in those about them.
If children live with friendliness, they learn the world is a nice place in which to live.
I predict Casey is going to be a blank stare, flat affect, at her folks when they testify. If she cries it wont be for what she has put them through.
