What you need to know about the active shooting location

The active shooting situation is unfolding on the campus of Emory University, the school said, which lies in the east part of Atlanta.

Here’s what you need to know about the location:

• The situation is located at Emory Point CVS, which is nestled in a shopping center of restaurants, shops and apartments where some students live.

• The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is directly across Clifton Avenue from the Emory Point CVS. There are security gates in front of the CDC, which does not appear to have been breached, a law enforcement official tells CNN.

• Atlanta, which is mostly in Fulton County, also falls into a small part of DeKalb County.

• Emory University is within the boundaries of the City of Atlanta

Sort of a comfort, I suppose to be hit "only" a crossfire.

Employees at the CDC are dedicated to serve our country but have been defunded, fired, undermined, and ridiculed in the past few months. Now, a workplace is hit in the crossfire. This is hard to take.

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - A police source confirmed the shooter responsible for opening fire inside the CVS store at Emory Point has died

11Alive just announced that the shelter in place has been lifted.

Per 11Alive, the first responding officer was the one shot.
They're showing a pic of an LE car with the rear window shot out and what appears to be auto fluid that has leaked out.
Also, one of the suspects is "down" - dead - and they are still searching for another suspect, but the lockdown is still lifted. APD just confirmed that one shooter is dead.
Me: Huh??? Why are y'all lifting the shelter in place if there is another suspect???

Situation contained in Atlanta​

The situation in Atlanta is contained and there is no active threat to the public, a DeKalb County official said.

Residents of the county should remain indoors as a precaution as officials investigate the incident. The investigation is ongoing an active, the official said.

Lorraine Cochran-Johnson, the CEO of the county, said her thoughts and prayers are with those affected by today's event and said she's grateful for the quick law enforcement response.

"I urge everyone to stay alert, remain indoors, and follow official guidance as we allow law enforcement to complete their investigation," Cochran-Johnson said.

The shooter is dead, Atlanta Police say​

There was a single shooter involved who is now dead, Atlanta Police Department said on X.

“There is no ongoing threat to the Emory Campus or the surrounding neighborhood. The incident involved a single shooter, who is now deceased,” the post said. “One law enforcement official was injured in the course of the response.”

Police advised to still avoid the area as the investigation continues.
