Investigators charged a 39-year-old Suwanee man with murder and arson Wednesday in the death of a woman whose body was found in a burning home Tuesday.

Arrest warrants say David Robert Norton shot the woman in the back of the head and set a fire at her home, on Sentinel Parkway in northern Gwinnett County.

Court records show that Norton was awaiting trial on charges alleging that he punched Ayer and ran his vehicle into her garage door in February. Investigators charged Norton then with simple assault and criminal damage to property. Authorities released him on bond in that case and ordered him to stay away form Ayer, according to court records.more at link...

A Gwinnett Superior Court jury rejected the notion Thursday that David Norton accidentally fired the sawed-off shotgun that killed his girlfriend of three years.

Jurors found Norton guilty of all five counts in his indictment, including murder, aggravated assault and first-degree arson...

Superior Court Judge Timothy Hamil sentenced the 41-year-old Suwanee man to life in prison plus 30 years, Kirk said.
