I got excited too when I read it, it is hard not to get excited about possible good news in situations like this.

You are right about that!
This case is horrid.

When a sleeping baby is not safe in a stroller in America, it's a sad sad day.

God bless us all.

According to an arrest warrant, Karimah Elkins told officers she was with her son between 8 and 11 a.m. on Goodyear Avenue when she was actually being detained at the Glynn County Detention Center at that time. She was released around 10:30 a.m.

According to Katrina Elkins' arrest warrant, she told officers she was with her nephew between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. on P Street, which is contrary to De'Marquise's statement that he was at another location during that time.

So mom told LE she was with her son, DE at a time when she was actually in police custody for something completely different?? That was not terribly clever of her.

How does society protect itself from immoral individuals who are also dumb as rocks? I guess she thought no one would check.

We can't.

We could all live in fear and lock ourselves up in our homes, or we can go on living and pray for the best.

Much like with terrorists.

I really wish there was something we could do to fix evil, but we can't.

Sad huh?

so this <modsnip> tried to rob someone a few weeks ago w/ the same gun, and mom and aunt tried to get rid of the gun. un freaking believable.

If they had done the right thing after DE tried to rob that man then baby might be alive today! They need to go down right along with that sorry excuse for a human.......

Here is an article on the shooting/robbery of Wilfredo Calix-Flores

http://m.wtoc.com/autojuice?targetU...85704/brunswick-man-shot-during-armed-robbery

Brunswick man shot during attempted armed robbery

Calix-Flores and Jose Luis Rivera-Chavez were approached by three unidentified black males. Police said one of the suspects brandished a handgun and pointed it at them, demanding cash and their cell phones. When the victims told the suspects they didn't have any money or cell phones, the suspect with the handgun then shot Calix-Flores. The suspects then ran off an unknown direction of travel.

Sounds like the EXACT same scenario as Antonio's murder.

Very sad. I once believed that we could buy our way out with tax funded programs, subsidized housing, etc. But , having volunteered in an inner city school for quite awhile...I saw windows shot out in that housing and a terifying situation for those forced by poverty to live with evil. And it is evil that preys upon the young and converts THEM to evil. Throwing money at this just gives politicans a chance to get rich on others hard earned tax dollars and now we are asked to pretend NOT to see what is the sad state of almost every inner city...a war zone.

We train ourselves where NOT to drive or walk. We pretend. But we have improved NOTHING in decades of trying.

And yes,as you say, there are as many white gangs as Black in these areas...so this has nothing to do with race. But our failure as a society is obvious.

Sadly, it sounds all too familiar. I'll be curious to find out who the other two are.

I suppose we are at least lucky that they're as dumb as rocks. If they had any brains they'd be even more dangerous.

Too bad DE isn't older.....there's no fixing what he is. Pray he never leaves prison.

It does. And no matter if they had money or not, he would have shot them. He's one of those self serving types. Raised by them also. I hope they all go down, I hope they fry them and if they don't, I hope their cellies find out what they did.

No way the cops didn't connect this immediately. Maybe that's why they never considered mom a suspect.

Unfortunately, our society is changing. It's no longer frowned upon these days. Drive by's happen knowing there are children in the house, kids are jumped by other kids at school, hell even 1st graders are caught with drugs and weapons these days! The old school premise that you're not supposed to harm children was based on pride and honor.

These <modsnip> have none of that.

And here this week a drive by shooting done 2-males 1-females, shoots at 2 persons standing outside when LE pulls the car over there is a 2 year baby in cars seat. How sad, and this is why the children are out killing others. It's coming from what they are raised in, in most cases.

Wow. When did this happen? I can't find a date anywhere in that article - just says Monday night and the copyright at the bottom says 2013 - so sometime this year?

How much ya wanna bet that at least DE (if not both) are 2 of the 3 for this crime as well? The ballistics on that gun will tell the tale....

So glad these guys are off the street.

I'm baffled by Sherry asking her daughter about the insurance money. The daughter said her mother has mental problems and left her when she was 8, her other son was killed after starting a knife fight. To me, there are not a lot of Harriets and nary an Ozzie on either side of this story.

Part of Aunt KE criminal background.

http://www.firstcoastnews.com/topst...aby-killers-aunt-has-lengthy-criminal-history

"Most recently Katrina was housed in the Pulaski State Prison and was released in June of 2010."

"According to court records from the State of Georgia, Katrina has served a total of 47 months and 30 days behind bars for crimes she has been convicted of out of several Georgia counties, including Glynn and Chatham."

Ok - maybe you all caught all this but its the first time I've read it.

Seems mom and aunt were charged with false statements in that they gave a fake alibi for DE (saying that he had been with them at the time of the murder). (counts 10 & 11)

Then, mom and aunt are also charged with disposing of the gun in the pond (count 12)

Mom is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon - mom being the felon (count 13)

Then DE is charged with that robbery of Calix-Flores (counts 14 & 15)

Man, all of them are going down - and going down hard. The ballistics must have come back quickly matching that gun to that first robbery as well as Antonio.

Glad to see all of them off the streets and locked up - hopefully for a long long long long time.
