thank you Hickory Born, something new to chew on
Public Defender Kevin Gough, who is representing Elkins, has requested West's medical records.
"She might have been suffering from delusions or hallucinations at or around the times of these events and that might affect her ability to recall events accurately," Gough said.

I know Gough has to give this a shot (thanks to the door Ms. Glassy opened) but I do believe strongly that at this juncture, he needs to be working the mitigation angle.
IMO, DE has clearly come from a very dysfunctional background, as Gough hinted at in a statement made the other day. I think he needs to be pursuing that angle more fully. I would be throwing mama from the train (or under the bus) at this point. I'd be preppping to potray DE as a product of his environment, homeless at points, mom and aunt with long log history of criminal activities, in and out of jail, kid never had adequate supervision, raised by the streets. etc. etc.
Before ya'll start chuckin maters (even fried green ones)
I enjoy playing devils advocate at times. If I were a defense attorney dealing with this one, that is what I would be thinking about now.
