Good afternoon everybody. I just got here in time to see the last 10 minutes of DA Jackie Johnson's closing. She handled it well.

I laid awake last night thinking about this case & all the players & couldn't face Gough & company this morning.

I expect verdicts to come relatively quickly. It will be like dominoes... if this is guilty then this is too & this....

I missed the Defense closing but the Prosecutor did a great job, although a bit disorganized. Because I didn't see the trial until Sherry West testified, I didn't realize they had the video stills of Elkins and all the witnesses to Elkins actions after the crime. Like another high profile case that happened not long ago, it's hard to refute so many people saying the same thing at the same time.

Pretty damning closing by prosecution.

You never know what a jury will do. BUT, I bet these people want to get their holiday weekend started. I wouldn't be surprised if they asked for lunch to be sent in so they could start the deliberations.

I get very nervous when the jury starts deliberating on a Friday, and especially on a holiday weekend. The jurors in that Florida case (CA) were more worried about their holiday then doing their jobs, as they were instructed to do.

I believe there will be a guilty verdict in this case!!

Thinking of Little Antonio today. Praying for justice.

By the time the second shot rang out, Long was in a panic. His 'fight or flight' instinct had hit on it's top level and he had made the decision to flee. What he mistook for the baby, was probably a cry from Sherry West.

SW was nervious during the interview and had just suffered a terrible trauma. Technically, she was under the influence of pain meds given to her at the hospital, and the police had no business whatsoever in questioning her under those circumstances.

You can bet the defense knows this and is milking it for all he can.

I have to disagree that it was wrong to question the mother right away. How many times have we heard black guys were to blame for the death of a child when the parent killed the child - Susan Smith, for one. How many parents have surface wounds and a dead child that they themselves killed - Darlie Routier, for one.

At the time of her questioning, there were no other witnesses and her actions would make most look at her sideways in the death of her baby - ask anyone who has followed thousands of child abuse and child murder cases. Shooting a baby in the head by a parent would be merciful when compared to some of the horrors thousands of children go through every year.

Every day 4-5 children are killed by a family member in the US - most under the age of four. It's not hard for me to believe a mother could kill her child, not by a long shot. On the other hand, it's not hard for me to believe Karimah Elkins neglected and raised her son to have zero feeling while shooting a baby in the face.

If they find the defendant guilty will their job be finished? Or will they have to go right back into chambers to decide the sentence? Does anyone know how this works in Georgia? Remembering the Casey Anthony situation, I do believe that this holiday weekend will weigh in on the verdict. :(

Baby crying or not is a meaningless discrepancy. Whether baby cried or not has no relevance on who killed him. There are always discrepancies in eyewitness testimony. If you are demanding no discrepancies, nobody would be convicted ever.

Everything can't be irrelevant that doesn't agree with one's theory on a case. If the baby never made a sound, and it was indeed SW that Lang heard screaming, this could mean the baby was already dead when SW left her house that day. I'm not saying this is what happened, because I don't think it was, but had other things fit, this discrepancy would be relevant.

Does anyone know where I can find the police interrogation tapes of Elkins and Lang?

Does anyone know if Sherry West has a support system there? When she got off the stand a few days ago, it seemed to me that she was alone. It would be awful if she is having to stay in a motel and deal with this nightmare by herself. I hope she has been receiving letters and emails from all her supporters.

I think her brother lives there - he was on Dr. Drew the other night speaking highly of her...so he is probably around.

Defense's main closing argument in #elkins case is that police did not thoroughly investigate other people as the possible murder suspect.
