Whoa.................

From this article:
http://jacksonville.com/news/crime/...ioner-james-h-brooks-denied-bail-bribery-case

Saying Brooks could pose a risk to residents in Camden and Glynn counties, Magistrate Jennifer E. Lewis refused to release him on bail but set a preliminary hearing for 10 a.m., Feb. 10.

Near the end of the hearing, District Attorney Jackie Johnson said there is more to come than the single bribery charge in which Brooks is accused to taking $300 to have a drug conviction removed from the record of a man who wants to be a police officer.

Now, this was just back in February of this year! And if you read the entire article - it says his wife and kids are in dire straights with no hot water and her car in hock at the garage because she can't pay the repair bill. Yet, this guy is in nice suits and has a Glock? WTH????????????

So he stepped in between an officer/detective and DE's mom and now he's been charged with obstruction. There's something else there. I bet he was spouting off the entire time this was going on.

AND this February case - he took a bribe to have a drug conviction removed so that the guy could become a police officer. Really!!!!??????

I'm just gobsmacked at this now. Really. WTH is going on in this tiny town? Man, if I lived there - I'd be packing and getting the hello outta there right quick like.

******walking away shaking my head and mummbling to myself*********

Wise Old Owl, I think that was Feb. of 2012.

Oops - my bad. Thanks for the correction. But still, this guy is "skeevy" at the least. There had to be more than him just stepping in between for him to be arrested.

And in the 2012 case the judge said he was a danger and refused to give him bail. What is THAT all about? An elected official (commissioner) is a danger to society?

What hasn't he been removed from office? Or has he?

And little Antonio gets further and further away from the forefront. What are we, as a society, becoming?

I can't believe this story just got that much crazier. Who the heck does this commissioner think he is?!? Stepping between an officer to protect a witness in an investigation? Sounds to me like this guy thinks he's the be all and end all in that town and has been getting away with it for too long now. I'd say the prosecutor has just given him the ultimate smack down-and has sent very clear messages to the community. Don't mess with us!!! God bless this police department and prosecutor for fighting so hard and fearlessly for justice for this innocent precious baby. While I am so saddened that there is such evil in this world, I am comforted knowing there are a heck of a lot of "good guys" out there too!

...and the DA Jackson filed the original charges back in 2012. Seems he also took money from inmates for favors...very scary when the inmates are literally running the assylum.

Great video. At the 1:53 mark on the video Sabrina is seen avowing her brother DE's innocence. At the 1.00 mark on the video is Katrina Elkins (DE's Aunt) interview before her arrest and if you watch when she states he was at her house all day, she literally cannot keep a straight face and she rolls her eyes at the exact moment she says "he was at my residence."

Doering states they know exactly how, when and who disposed of the gun which further cements my belief that LE has video of that disposal.

She sure does roll her eyes. DE (tough guy) looks mighty proud of himself while walking into court.Awful, considering what he is charged with.

IMO

I just hope these LE, their families, and the prosecutor have round the clock security in this mess. :(

When we thought this couldn't get any worse...a Brunswick Commissioner has been charged.

BRUNSWICK | City Commissioner James Henry Brooks Sr. has been charged with influencing a witness and obstructing the investigation of the fatal shooting of a baby and wounding of his mother March 21.

This may be connected to the Antonio Santiago murder:
Action News met with Commissioner Brooks earlier this week during an interview with family members of De'marquise Elkins, one of the teens accused in the murder of a Brunswick baby. Action News also captured video of Brooks walking with the Elkins family in front of the courthouse on Monday. Brooks told Action News he is related to De'marquise Elkins.

Make you wonder about the rest of the family, huh. At least they can all see each other while in jail.

IMO

A family reunion on taxpayer dollars. So sad.

Just think about how and why this individual would be elected...and the reason good people cannot walk a baby in a stroller on the streets of that town become VERY understandable.

No WONDER people are afraid to come forward--you have fears of gang retaliation (or heck, just Elkins family retaliation, they seem to be their own gang of criminals) on one side, and a corrupt public official on the other with the power to screw with their lives. Unbelievable.
