If suspect is in his vehicle (truck?) - why would they not release a description and tag number? Seems they would want the public to be looking out for him as well as LE. Think of how often suspects are sited by the general public as opposed to LE (most of the time)....

And by googling the number in the listing, Bud's name, address, charity and other classified ads are easily found. :(

Jumping off this post, and if Bud called him back, his name might have shown up on caller ID, RT could have googled him and known exactly whom he was meeting.

People in the know about that area- if one got turned around and went the wrong way out of McRae could they accidentally end up in the water at all? Just wondering if there are any sharp turns near it or anything. Just trying to think of reasons LE would know where he is and not immediately arrest him. Maybe they think he's guilty for luring them down there and trying to steal from them but that something bad happened on the way home vs at his hands?

  • #384
Or maybe he was the lure and someone else he knew did the crime? Maybe he was supposed to get a cut for his part?

So, where did LE get the camo pic from?

Might he try to flee to Canada or Mexico?

So, is camo man hiding out in the woods camo style? Or he is staying in a hotel/motel? Truck stop? Or is he staying with a friend/family member? Word's getting out fast... The whole country will be looking for this guy by tomorrow morning. Especially after Good Morning America. I hope LE has their eyes on him before he has a chance to go poof!

So, maybe he has tried to change his physical appearance by now...maybe shaved his head AL style? Or done a Scott Peterson bad dye job?

The last time I bought a car I had to insure it before I could drive it offbthe lot. I'm surprised to read this.
Wow some states must be different. I have never heard of this before. You always have x amount of days to do this.

(He kind of reminds me of Holly Bobo's perps...)

Eta: wow, looking back on this, and the "camo"...
I moved to TN just a few months before she went missing. I am just a hour away from her town and that camo attire is common, even on non-hunters.

So, in many threads (Heather Elvis, Terrilynn Monette for example) we have discussed all kinds of traffic cameras, (how some record differently, say constantly running as opposed to specifically triggered, etc) and there is a lot of valuable info in those threads.

I'm currently trying to get a list of different traffic light cameras in the McRae area, and am learning from this site that there are the following different types of cameras for me to check as "fields" in my query:

Red Light Camera
Speed Camera
Right Turn Camera
Right Light + Speed
Red + Speed + Right
Bus Lane Camera
Carpool Camera
Parking Camera
Railroad Camera
Stop Sign Camera (I can't say I recall ever seeing one of those)
Traffic Camera
Tollbooth Camera
Sobriety

And then in remote areas haven't there been like wildlife watching cameras (I forget the real name) that have come in handy in the past on some cases? Especially in rural areas and off rural roads?

"There are currently about 50 volunteers on the ground, along with first responders, dogs, and helicopters in the air.

Steverson said the search will continue into the night."

Also, from the above link, re: RT being "the last person to talk to the couple on the phone", "he would not say whether it was an incoming or outgoing call".

Jumping off of your comment. You're right, how would he know? Not saying that the Runions couldn't hold their own against one twenty-eight year-old guy, but... what if it wasn't just Jay? Jay plus one or two others could easily overwhelm them, right? What stands out to me at the moment is that the suspect has vanished just as the Runions have, and if he was with another person(s) when whatever happened, happened, then was initially questioned by LE, maybe the other person(s) got rid of him, too?

It's late and my imagination is working overtime, but anything is possible at this point.
This is what has bothered me the most RT is 28 and 6'4. Bud is 69 and 5'7. That is a big difference. I am 5'2 and my DH is 6'4 obviously he is not a criminal but he is big and strong and could easily overpower a person. I fear that RT could as well.

This may have been mentioned before, but as some people here have said they have burner phones, they use all the time, perhaps RT did as well. I had to use one about six years ago, when I moved to an area that didn't use my cellular provider. I was able to refill my minutes online with my debit card. Just thinking maybe RT did something like that, maybe he didn't realize his phone could be traced that way.
