Decomposed body found at Georgia Boy Scout camp

State law enforcement officers are investigating after a decomposed body wrapped in bed linens was found at a Boy Scout camp.

The body was that of a white male. Authorities say an autopsy and forensic tests were planned to identify the body and determine the cause of death.

Investigators said the remains were consistent with Daryl James Oxford, 39, who had been reported missing April 9 and had last been seen in Crawford County.

An autopsy confirmed Oxford’s identity and determined that he died from a gunshot wound to the chest.
