Identified! GA - Cherokee Co, Remains in Woods Behind Home on Purcell Ln, July 2018 - Gary Farris *wife arrested

Does this woman ever shut up? I'm listening to the phone calls that were tapped. She must have been maddening to listen to for 38 years.

She also sounds very lacking in education. She's astonishingly inarticulate.

She goes around and around! To me that sounds like nervous chatter.

She is trying to control what Rusty thinks. She cuts him off and interjects with ‘well I didn’t do it’ repeatedly.

She is desperate to convince him, he is her ally. I think she was detecting that he wasn’t believing her 100% like he was initially. So she digs in to say the same thing over and over.

As I interpret it, the only reason to say it over and over is because she is guilty. If I were innocent I don’t think I would be so controlling in any conversations. I would be asking all kinds of questions. imo

I don't think RB was as into the relationship as MWF was. He had another woman at the same time and in the recorded calls after the murder, he was thinking only of himself and wasn't as talkative. Has he ever said to her that he knew she didn't do it??? IIRC they are no longer an item?? I wonder if he will be recalled. Who is Manny?

This trial....I've never seen anything like it! There's evidence piling up! And the details are off the wall. Melody lies all the time, and she volunteers things were not true, even when they're not in issue. E.g. she said there's luminol everywhere, and they didn't find anything. Why would she say that? It's as though she's saying, "I'm too clever. They didn't catch me out on the blood thing." But why would she bring up blood at all?

I believe they're still an item, but I'm not sure. They were definitely an item when Melody was arrested.

She is a paradox. The case is a bizarre phenomenon. She says there is nothing there, nothing, they aren’t going to find anything.
Find what???

She was adamant about the $8k for Gary’s service. ‘That’s ridiculous and I’m not paying for it. If they want that then they have to pay for it. They can split it 4-ways’

It’s just weird to raise issues that are of no matter. It makes me wonder about her mental health.

I'm not sure about her mental health, but she's a vicious woman! Gary gave to his sons freely. She murdered him for it (among other things)? And she doesn't seem to notice how guilty she looks in all those tapped phone calls.

She says since Gary was all burned up already, they should be able to do the funeral cheaper than that!

LE has done a great job in this case IMO. My mind is blown by the mound of evidence. And we haven't even heard all the evidence from the phones and Google (we were in the middle of it, when the jurors went on their field trip, and the judge wanted to go home and snuggle under the covers).

I can't believe Gary had a photo of the smashed plate in his Google file. That was one of the last things he wrote. He said Melody had a temper tantrum...

I think RB was into the relationship, but he was suspicious.

I was shocked at how young and fit Melody looks in the ring camera videos. Way different than how she appears today.
There's no way that's Melody! The face is too long? And the mouth profile isn't right? Melody has a very unique mouth, lower jaw very retracted, worn out teeth in the lower jaw (so the mouth kind of collapses), and that very unusual philtrum. Thin lips. Maybe it's Amanda?

Were those photos on the day of the murder? I didn't see those in court.

Those are the shoes she got blood on?

Do you think Melody dyed her hair for the trial? So she'd look too old to be committing murder? She hasn't removed the blemish on her cheek, which surprises me. That would have been my first target if I had money for plastic surgery. I figure she maybe left it on to look ugly on purpose?
And her trial clothes are new (and expensive). They're all greys and blacks. I doubt her wardrobe was like that before. All for show.

I knew nothing about this case until I started watching the trial. Initially I was thinking that one of her son's must have also been involved, but as the evidence has been presented, I can see clearly that the only person involved in this awful murder is Melody. I feel like she told Rusty more than he's admitting, possibly earlier that day when she was speaking to him. He sounds suss to me especially when he immediately said to her 'don't tell me anymore, I don't need to know' (paraphrasing).

She doesn't seem to be at all bothered by all the evidence against her and comes across as so cold and aloof. The only emotion I've seen was when she was listening to her own police interview/s and started crying, which seemed odd considering how cold she is. I can totally see why 3 of her kids have disowned her. Imagine growing up with a mother like that!

I don't think I've ever seen such a casual trial! This Judge seems more involved in questioning some of the witnesses and seems to enjoy the attention of the camera and people in the courtroom. It's also interesting that neither side hardly ever raises any objections to the evidence.

I'm looking forward to hearing from Rusty's stepmom. All IMO.

DAILY TRIAL HIGHLIGHTS

DAY 14 – 10/24/24

  • Jurors visit the former home of Gary and Melody Farris.
  • Lead Detective Daniel Haynes said he never considered Chad Farris or Scott Farris a suspect in the death of their father Gary Farris.
  • The barn and Scott Farris’ loft above the barn was never searched for evidence or checked for blood.

MJ! I was expecting a frail little old lady barely able to stand up, stringy hair, all bent over, gappy memory... This woman is SPECTACULAR. That face: I melt just looking at the comfiness of it. And she had a "travel" day? I'm thinking she spent the day at the beauty parlor. That hair is a wonder to behold. And the purple twinkly glasses make the whole picture sparkle. She even had doctor's evidence that her memory was sharp as a tack? Perfection.

I've never seen anything like this for a last minute witness for what she's testifying to and who she is. Drama!

Melody told her not to talk to LE. So, she didn't except the one time TBI showed up.
And another timeline item! She called Melody on the 4th about whether to drain the beans.

IIRC Scott's apartment was indeed searched. The cop testified to that earlier. It was part of the search warrant.

She certainly was a great witness!! It had to be hard on her to do this but then again MWF did have an affair. I can't believe that defense atty talking to her the way he did...desparation... and the judge for the most part let him!! This judge is strange, IMO. Every chance he gets, there is a break of some kind. A mistrial and then a directed verdict to boot!!

The judge is a little out of the ordinary, but I think it's because he cares. And, he also let MJ wander around with her testimony. It became quite narrative, no quick answers, not always on point. She got some cute little smiles in, remembering her husband's antics. This generally isn't allowed, and it made MJ super likeable. How could anyone in the jury find her offensive or a liar? You could hear a pin drop, except for occasional muffled giggles.
Defense was only going to look repulsive if they were mean or disrespectful to her. I didn't watch that part, because I knew they'd step in it, in an effort to discredit her. They sank themselves.

Plus, MJ remembered the phone call about the beans, exactly corresponding to when the detective said she called Melody on the 4th of July.

The prosecutor was the best guy ever to be questioning MJ. He amped up his accent so it was like hers, and he trod softly. I thought it was brilliant.

Oh my, Miss Martha Jane! I love you. You are such a strong woman with strong morals.

I burst out laughing when the prosecution showed the photo of an extra bedroom, with some storage bins and a few bags piled on the bed and a chair...and her response was, "Oh no! No!" and she covered her face in embarrassment. (She clearly hasn't seen MY house!) Of course the people in the courthouse laughed and the prosecutor consoled her by saying, "it's ok, we've moved on to photo 13".

And then the defense, attacking her, would not have played well to the jury. He was talking so, so fast and he didn't give her time to think.

Agree with everyone else, Miss Martha was adorable and came across as extremely honest. Talk about a stroke of luck that she watched some of the testimony on Court TV, on one of her two Kindles, and knew in her heart that she had to do the right thing and contact the investigators to let them know about the missing gun. If only Rusty had the same morals as his stepmom.

After seeing all the phone calls between Melody and Rusty during the time that Gary was murdered, I have no doubt that Rusty was aware of what was happening.

Those photos are not the day the murder. They were taken in 2017.
Go to day 13, at the 7:29 mark, the prosecutor plays these videos.
