In this whole trial, I have seen very little interaction between MWF and her attorneys

I’ve noticed it too, it is unusual. Not sure if it’s a strategy but it made me think if I was on trial and guilty I might do the same.

It lessens the sharp scrutiny from people who are looking intently at her to see how she reacts to different things.

‘I wonder why she is smiling now’. In that regard she has given them little to report about her emotions.

IMO after considering things, I don’t think the door changes things for me. I am about the same size as Melody and my boyfriend is similar in size to Gary - there is no way, even with a door out of the basement, that I could move him anywhere. Also, in regards to the Kubota, I have worked as an equine vet tech and on numerous horse farms in my life. I have used lots of farm machinery for various reasons, one of which was to move deceased farm animals. Without going into too much detail, I will tell you there is absolutely no way to drag a body behind a Kubota/tractor or anything without leaving evidence that it was drug.
Yeah, I'm pretty slight as well, but, if I had a criminal mind I'd just roll him onto a sheet or rug and drag that out the door. I'm in my 60's, but fit, and I think I could do it. If 'freedom and all of the assets' were at stake, I believe that Melody could do it as well. She was in her 50's at the time and fit, wasn't she?

He was shot in the house. There are blood droplets and a bullet. However, IMO, the bullet just nicked him, and he went charging out of the house to get to the neighbors. The burn pile is on the way to the neighbors, actually, very close (a few yards). Melody shot him again in his rib. There may have been more shots as well. He fell near enough to the burn pile that she could grab the Kubota and nudge him in. We don't know if he was alive or dead when she set him alight. We do know she used the Kubota. There was blood on it. IMO

So yes, that would put him right near the burn pile when she shot him or when he fell over because he'd been shot.
BBM - she did say that she hoped he would die a 'gruesome death' or something along those lines, so that thought did cross my mind as to whether he was actually still alive when she set him on fire!

Actually, she seemed to think some things were funny early in the trial, especially when her 3 kids were on the stand. Her lawyers must have told her to stop it.

Yes, I also think they addressed the need for her to tone it down, but I noticed that she couldn't suppress her "looks can kill" expression when the prosecutor delivered her closing statement. To me, she appears to be highly manipulative, lacking any awareness of her own behavior and how it comes across to others. I wouldn’t be surprised if she has a Cluster B personality disorder.
IMO

The other point of interest for me is the phone conversation Melody had with Rusty about if she told him Gary was on the burn pile. Her response was “I don’t know” - who would say that if they knew they didn’t have anything to do with his murder. Without the “I don’t know” response, I could reasonably think that she told Rusty in conversation that Gary was “working on the burn pile”. Or even saying “he’s on the burn pile” as a way of saying he’s working on the burn pile. (Like the expression “I’m on it!” when someone asks if you’ve started working on something or to start working on something.) I admit, if that was the case, what a horrible case of bad timing/coincidence of that conversation taking place right before his body is found ON that burn pile. Also her comment on the body should have never been burned that badly bothers me. I realize a fire needs to get incredibly hot to burn a body to the point that it sounds like his was, but I just don’t think that would have been my comment if my husband had been found burned beyond recognition on our property and I had no idea how he got there. It’s almost like she’s saying she never expected it to have been burned that badly with what she knew occurred.
I think RB was giving MWF a chance to change what she had said before. They talked in code many times

New question from the jury this morning. They want legal definitions of the charges.

  • #432
If MWF is found guilty, what happens to that insurance payout she received?

Great question! In other cases, the answer is they have to give the money back, but in this case considering she probably spent a good bit of it on her attorneys, not sure what happens.

does anyone know what the charges were or an idea of why they would ask for clarification on those?

Edited to say that I came in late on following this one

We can only guess why they wanted the legal definitions, but they seem to be a very thorough jury. I am definitely expecting a verdict today after this latest request.

I was really hoping the verdict would come in before I had to go to work today. I think it will be soon!
