The wedding photos were interesting to see.

How many Ted's are there in this trial/case?

What evidence does the state have against the defendant?

Thought the daughter was relatable.

TIA
I don't understand your question: "How many Ted's are there in this trial/case?" Can you explain further?

Emily who testified today is the eldest daughter. Sorry for the confusion.

I think Scott handled himself extremely well. I have the utmost respect for both Scott and his brother, Christopher.

Do you know if the guy she was having an affair with is going to testify?

CourtTV is saying that Rusty, Melody's boyfriend, will testify today. No mention of the first boyfriend, Ted.

ETA: Ted is on the stand now!

Personally, I was not impressed with the testimony of Gary's legal assistant, Angela. I did not find her credible.

Now . . . wait a minute! Is this the "secretary" that Gary had previously had an affair with? [I should clarify, that I'm popping in and out -- watched some of Ted's testimony, then had to sign off. Just popping in -- therefore, I know nothing! Sorry! Thanks to anyone who can answer my question.]
[ETA: Just found my notes from Christopher's testimony. Angela Phillips and Gary Farris had an affair in the 1990's. Angela was his secretary in the Birmingham, Alabama area. She later moved when Gary did, to the new office of the law firm in the Atlanta area. Christopher was familiar with who Angela Phillips was because the office Christmas Party was held at Gary/Melody's home and Angela had some involvement with arranging for the food at the party.]

Yep, that is one and the same Angela. Only now, today, she testified she does not recall if she had intercourse with Gary. Come on!!!

What do I think . . . uhhhh . . . duh . . . yeah! She was a greedy woman who should have let him go through with his previous plan to divorce her **donkey**. Absolutely wasted Gary's life. He loved his children, absolutely loved his job . . . the only thing that held him back and caused depression and all of the bad things in his life was HER. I, too, loved my father. I so feel the pain of these kids. [ETA: . . . and I'll bet that those prim-and-proper pearls Melody wears were a gift from Gary."]

I am somewhat late to this case, and have not watched all of the trial
What I've seen so far is that Melody was incredibly rude and indiscreet at her daughter's wedding, dancing/schmoozing constantly with her amour, Rusty, while her husband was there. Seriously, what is wrong with this woman? And previously she had a sexual relationship with her sister-in-law's partner? Does this woman have no boundaries or discretion?

Does that necessarily make her a killer? No.
But her behavior is definitely suspect around the time her husband went missing. She immediately called her husband's law office (to try to get access to his equity investment in the firm) after his bones were found in the burn pit and she told them his death was an accident. She also told them that she smelled him (cigarette smoke) the day before they confirmed he was missing and that she didn't check to see if he was around when she arrived back with the grandchildren from the July 4th party. Wouldn't they want to see their grandfather before bed?

I've found their adult children believable on the witness stand, although I'm sure there might be some areas where they've tried to shine a good light on themselves (as many would be likely to do).

I found Gary's legal assistant, Angela, generally believable, unlike @nodamselindistress above. As with the kids, I think she tried to minimize her 'affair' with Gary, but she did admit to it. I did find it believable that the affair was brief and long ago and they both moved on.
Here is a link to her testimony:

The one thing that I thought the defense did a good job bringing out today was in the re-cross of a fellow law colleague and friend of Gary's. This guy called the detectives on January 5 (the day that Gary's remnants were found) to say that Gary's son Chris called and told him that Gary and been murdered. Chris said that a bullet was found with the remains and the bullet matched a missing .38 caliber weapon from their house. The interesting thing about this is that LE hadn't determined the caliber of the bullet yet. Chris also told this colleague that he suspected that his mother killed his father.

ETA: this testimony about the weapon is at 5:00 in this video:
Law & Crime - Husband murdered burn pile - Day 7

The defense at least opened the door a crack that the children might be trying to frame the mother.

Oh gosh I’m catching it now. It’s the most reactive that I’ve seen her. She is notably angry while the guy is testifying about money she gave him.

Serious question: is something wrong with her upper lip?

I just haven’t seen that amount of protrusion before in that area.

It looks like she had too much filler.

My suspicions grow around the 2 sons. As noted above, Chris knew things before he should have known them. Also, Scott, the younger son, deleted images on the trail cam which may have shown who dumped the body on the burn pile. AND he immediately went looking for the "missing gun" as soon as he found the body. The bullet was not apparent yet somehow he knew his Dad had been shot? Both sons very dependet on Dad for $$$ to live. Things that make me go hmmmmmm.

Why are they letting the daughter talk so much? Heresay and everything. She'll answer a yes or no question then is allowed to go on for another 30 secs. it's weird. "my brother told me my father said...." Are they letting them hang themselves and talk too much on purpose?

  • #160
Evidently the digital analyst on the stand right now was able to recover the deleted trail cam images and there is nothing incriminating on those images.
