I am somewhat late to this case, and have not watched all of the trial
What I've seen so far is that Melody was incredibly rude and indiscreet at her daughter's wedding, dancing/schmoozing constantly with her amour, Rusty, while her husband was there. Seriously, what is wrong with this woman? And previously she had a sexual relationship with her sister-in-law's partner? Does this woman have no boundaries or discretion?
Does that necessarily make her a killer? No.
But her behavior is definitely suspect around the time her husband went missing. She immediately called her husband's law office (to try to get access to his equity investment in the firm) after his bones were found in the burn pit and she told them his death was an accident. She also told them that she smelled him (cigarette smoke) the day before they confirmed he was missing and that she didn't check to see if he was around when she arrived back with the grandchildren from the July 4th party. Wouldn't they want to see their grandfather before bed?
I've found their adult children believable on the witness stand, although I'm sure there might be some areas where they've tried to shine a good light on themselves (as many would be likely to do).
I found Gary's legal assistant, Angela, generally believable, unlike
@nodamselindistress above. As with the kids, I think she tried to minimize her 'affair' with Gary, but she did admit to it. I did find it believable that the affair was brief and long ago and they both moved on.
Here is a link to her testimony:
The one thing that I thought the defense did a good job bringing out today was in the re-cross of a fellow law colleague and friend of Gary's. This guy called the detectives on January 5 (the day that Gary's remnants were found) to say that Gary's son Chris called and told him that Gary and been murdered. Chris said that a bullet was found with the remains and the bullet matched a missing .38 caliber weapon from their house. The interesting thing about this is that LE hadn't determined the caliber of the bullet yet. Chris also told this colleague that he suspected that his mother killed his father.
ETA: this testimony about the weapon is at 5:00 in this video:
Law & Crime - Husband murdered burn pile - Day 7
The defense at least opened the door a crack that the children might be trying to frame the mother.
