Disturbing video shows accused daycare worker with blood-smeared face

Thurston, 54, of Bainbridge, was arrested on August 11 on child abuse and aggravated battery charges after she allegedly beat one-year-old Clay Weeks and then blamed another child for the attack.

Clay was left with a black eye and deep scratches on his face and neck following his first day of school at Little Blessings Child Care.
'This is every parent's worst nightmare and WE had to live it and are still living it,' Cory wrote, adding: 'We were told another child in Clay's class did this type of damage with a plastic toy.'

But when Cory and daycare staff reviewed surveillance footage from the day of the attack, they found evidence to support that Thurston was responsible for the attack.

'Nothing we saw was for the faint-hearted, especially happening to such an innocent soul,' Cory said.

Thurston was taken into custody, resulting in a temporary closure of the facility.

Clay, whose three-year-old brother Wyatt also goes to the daycare, was rushed to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.

OH MY HEART that sweet boy!!!! My only hope (aside from legal justice being served), is that he is young enough for the memories of this event to fade for him over time.

Edit to add: Also, props to the parents for not making headlines of their own after learning what happened. I don't know that I'd have had the same level of restraint.
