[h=1]Human remains found on New Year’s Day could prove a break in the search for a missing Georgia man[/h]
CLINCH COUNTY, Ga- The discovery of a body in southeast Georgia could lead to a break in the nearly year-long search for a man who mysteriously disappeared from his job site last February.

Jake Conner vanished while working as part of a four man timber crew in rural Clinch County– near Fargo– the afternoon of February 1, 2017. Workmates of the 30-year-old father told authorities he went missing from the wooded area around four o’clock that afternoon.

The GBI confirms the recovery of human remains on New Year’s Day in a wooded area in the vicinity of where Conner vanished. Those remains will be sent to the GBI crime lab to be tested for a positive identification.

The remains were found near where Jacob Dewitt Conner was reported missing by co-workers from his job site near the intersection of Score Bridge Road and Plumb Bush Road in Clinch County.

Coworkers last saw Conner around 4 p.m. on Feb. 1, 2017.

Law enforcement agencies are continuing to search the area for more evidence.

The remains will be transported to a crime lab for identification.
This case is ongoing and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Clinch County Sheriff’s Office at 912-487-5316, 912-487-3250 or the GBI at 912-389-4103.

Remains in Georgia woods identified as man missing since '17

Oct 09, 2019

"HOMERVILLE, Ga. (AP) — Authorities say human remains found in dense woods in rural south Georgia have been identified as those of a man missing for nearly three years.

Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent Mark Pro said Wednesday that DNA testing confirmed skeletal remains found in Clinch County belong to 30-year-old Jake Dewitt Conner of Fargo.

WALB-TV reports Conner was reported missing from his job site by co-workers on Feb. 1, 2017. The remains were discovered in the remote, heavily wooded area nearly a year later.

Pro declined to comment on how Conner may have died. He said he planned to meet with the missing man's family soon."

Next to no details on circumstance of disappearance. Radio silence from family despite employment in family business ("Last seen wearing a 'Conner Timber' shirt and uniform pants"). Details on remains withheld until family is contacted then the story ends.

To me, this is clearly a case where suicide was suspected from the beginning and confirmed by forensic evidence.

His truck was found upside down in the woods. He had a newborn daughter also, his own mother suspected foul play in the videoclip I saw and was desperate to find him.
When they finally did *poof* , radio silence.

I didn't see that reported anywhere in print but mothers very often suspect foul play and people often attempt suicide by car accident especially if they have someone like a mother who would have an especially difficult time accepting a definitive suicide. Failing that he probably set out on foot to a remote location where he hoped never to be found.
