Exactly - Georgia has the GBI for investigation, questioning and sample testing purposes. The FBI has specific jurisdiction. Was it definitely the FBI? The GBI usually handles missing person reports in Georgia

from Wiki: "The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is the U.S. state of Georgia's state bureau of investigation. It is an independent, statewide agency that provides assistance to Georgia's criminal justice system in the areas of criminal investigations, forensic laboratory services and computerized criminal justice information. Its headquarters is located in unincorporated DeKalb County, near Decatur and in Greater Atlanta.[SUP][4] [/SUP]"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgia_Bureau_of_Investigation

So why wasn't it the GBI's job to step in instead of the FBI?

Both Subie (our VI), and the "official" help find Jenna FB page have mentioned FBI involvement. I have no reason to disbelieve them.

One reason (amongst many others) for which the FBI can and does get involved is sex trafficking. Another is when they have an ongoing investigation which - for whatever reason - cross-references with a local LE case.

Just a couple of examples, & JMO.

Perhaps due to the fact that at one point in time, it was mentioned human trafficking, which is FBI? :dunno:

Time line wise.
We know she left a friends place at 11pm friday to go home according to him
At 2 am (saturday) she sent a text to a friend saying she was laying down

ETA: What sjm said above... ditto

ETA#2:  And................. it is also a CRIME to lie to the FBI, but not normal LE fwiw, iirc in other cases??? So FBI is good for interviews as if folks lie, they can be prosecuted.

(I hope someone will clarify/correct if I'm off base on this re criminal to lie to FBI.. I'm not sure what the differentiation on lying to local vs. FBI, so can someone please expound/clarify what I'm thinking as I do know that folks who have lied to local have been prosecuted  Help an old person out with memory lol)

" federal statute, 18 U.S.C. §1001, is very strict. That statute makes it a felony to give false statements, for instance, to FBI officers when they are investigating something. The law applies even when you are not under oath, and even if you did nothing else wrong."

These are general observations:

1) Although I'm always eager for any and all info on WS cases, I understand why LE has advised Subie to be cautious about what he shares here. I think I even recommended it a couple of days ago.

2) Some of the discrepancies in what has been published here and elsewhere *might* be caused by updated information/evidence/investigation coming to light, which LE *might* not want to disclose at the moment.

3) I have on occasion, been involved "behind the scenes" with a case or two here at WS and elsewhere, working with a VI/family/other WSers and been privy to information which couldn't be shared publicly, however much we may have wanted to. Sometimes inaccuracy/speculation/conflicting information couldn't be corrected, however much we wanted to do so. It can be very frustrating.

It's worth thinking about...

N.B. I have NO insider info on Jenna.
Personally I have no problem if items cannot be shared, and that is understandable, but in this instance, what is being shared or answered is not adding up and no explanation has been given regarding the discrepancies we have noted.
If this is human trafficking or other crime on the FBI list then that is fine. If it is foul play or a frightened vulnerable adult choosing to escape a violent ex, that is fine too. We will ask questions to try to determine which it could be. If subie cannot clarify then he needs to explain that, so we can move on. That is fine too.

Do you have a legal or LE background BTW? I notice the qc in your 'handle' and just wondered.

Hey Frozen, snap I have just been looking at the role of GBI so I would echo your questions.

So, I've started at the beginning of this thread & looking back, I have a few questions.

When was the last time brother had a verbal conversation with Jenna? Last time he saw her? When did he text with her last? Is it typical for them to communicate with one another on a day to day basis?

Post 234
"Glick says she talked to her daughter once or twice a day..."

DID SHE TALK TO MOM 1/2x FRIDAY? Any on Saturday?

Post 239 Mention of suitcase missing.

How do they know she brought a suitcase? Size? Taking into account the size of the suitcase, one could assume the quantity of clothing it would hold. Were her clothes missing as well? Or was everything, except suitcase, tapestry & Jenna still at the home?

Post 246
"Some reports said the house was in disarray. Is there any further info on that? Just untidy or drawers open and chairs out of place or how much in disarray?"
Post 247
"I have asked the same about the house being in disarray but no info has been provided anywhere."

Has this question ever been answered? Is it allowed to be answered?

Post 291
"My thought was to print the missing person flyers with her photo & post all throughout the apartment neighborhood she's been living at. Tape them to lamp posts, near mailboxes, in breezeways. Heck, if it were me, I'd leave one on every single persons door!"

Subie responded saying,
"We have done most of that or that the police / p.i are on it."

Is there any confirmation whether flyers have been posted anywhere??

I'm nowhere near the end, yet! Just wanted to put these here for now...

In the uk it is against the law and is called "perverting the course of justice" and is often as serious as the offence being lied about. In US maybe it's called bearing false witness perhaps? Anyway, lying to any LEO is usually an arrestable offence e.g. giving a false name "donald duck" at a traffic stop may not be met with humour from LE despite the driver thinking it hilarious.

 I know from past cases there is a difference iirc. Perhaps the difference I thought I recalled was with lying to the FBI, it is a FELONY charge vs. a lesser with local or state?

Perhaps someone here more knowledgeable will shout out.

RSBM...

Lol, but thanks for asking outright if you are wondering. The 'qc' was originally geographical, not Queen's Counsel.

I am not a lawyer, nor LE.

So updates.. long day yesterday. We managed to gain access to her email and facebook to see if we can find any clues. Nothing yet. We did have a few friends ask about the activity on her page and have let them know what was going on. The most helpful aspect so far has been Google TImeline and mapping her wearabouts to the phone logs. The tricky part right now is figuring out the last few hours before her activity ends. There is this apartment / townhome I mentioned. Still figuring out the deal with that and then I discovered that the timeline goes a bit more and shows driving from there down to midtown (14th and Crecsent Ave) which is near Opera night club. We also know that she was in my moms cars most of that night, so she had to have come back (with someone we assume) to have the cars switched

This area quoted confuses me, to add to everyone else's questions.

It sounds like she went to a friend's place then went "down" (if she just happened to be at a Cheshire Bridge BP at 11, maybe heading down would mean coming from that general area) to Opera.

Did she or did she not go to that club? Wouldn't they have cameras in there for security/safety purposes? LE has probably already checked this by now but if she did: 1. It's public so others might have seen her so it would be helpful to let the public know this and 2. If she brought someone back that she met there, it could be anyone, not necessarily someone she knew extremely well (meaning, not the usual suspects), moo.

I know there's other spots around there and it's not considered a dangerous setting but I would still want to check that place out and every other one near there, if that's potentially the last place she was before going back to parents' with this person.

I hate to be a broken record but the last public place seen is one of those details I'd want released.

Bently.... I will work on the timeline more today...just finished work....was a little bit frustrated yesterday, because people keep asking questions where answers are in the thread....sorry.....a little bit inpatient, only human.... is it possible to delete former summary's? Because the text is now here a couple of times, with updates and this could be confusing, disturbing for the readers of this thread. Also..is it possible to attach a summery somewhere In the beginning of the thread, so people could read this first so we don't have repeat ourselves over and over again. Not meaning this nasty at all, btw.

Does this help?

I apologize if my post of questions from the beginning are repeats & are answered further in the thread! I have followed closely & read through many pages multiple times. Naturally I may have forgotten a piece of information here & there!

I love the timeline you're working on & again, I do apologize if I posted questions that are already answered!
