Just heard same thing - think a "deal" was made, what could that be?

2 years probation ,120 hours community service.

She just plead guilty to the felony offense according to CNN breaking news.

Her case has already been adjudicated. She was given 120 hours community service, 2 yrs probation, and has to continue with her mental health counseling. ETA: Judge also ordered her to pay $2500 back to Sheriff's Office.

Maybe now people can leave the poor, disturbed girl alone; and let her try to begin to put her messed up life back together. But, I won't be holding my breath.

ETA: She actually pleaded, 'No Lo Contendre' or 'No Contest', to be factual.

Well, she's free as a bird, it seems, to have her wedding, continue her favorite pasttime and write her book.

I for one would never spend a darn dime to read her story..I've heard enough.

I am glad she got community service...now hopefully they will make her do something worthwhile with it.

Much to do about nothing. Plead guilty to the felony, $2,500 fine, 3 years probation, minimal community service, and Jennifer paying the city back $13,🤬🤬🤬. Now perhaps everything will be allowed to die down, that is unless FAUX, and the like, wants to have everyone parade back through, oh, and then there's John's book deal. Just when the city had a chance to get back to normal.

Just thinking that she was convicted of a felony, which means she loses her right to vote, doesn't it, or are the GA laws different on that?

Found the answer to my question about felony conviction

If she successfully completes her probation, the felony will be erased from her record, Gwinnett County District Attorney Danny Porter said.

I read that if she successfully completes her two years' community service, the felony will be removed from her record.

Also read that she wore running shoes to court. ;) I wouldn't trust this gal.

They said she could also pay for her search which I personally don't think she should..

"Wilbanks also could also have been ordered to reimburse authorities for the cost of the search, which has been tallied at more than $50,000. She's already agreed to pay part of the tab: On Tuesday, she said she would pay $13,250 to the city of Duluth, Ga., to help offset the overtime costs the city incurred searching for her"

Was thinking the same thing. But I think it's up to John and Jennifer now. If it's true that he still wants to marry her, here's hoping they elope!

Also hoping they'll opt for maintaining what little dignity they have left and not go the book route. Not banking on it though.

Runaway Bride Pleads No Contest to Felony

With her once-jilted fiance at her side, runaway bride Jennifer Wilbanks pleaded no contest Thursday to a felony charge and wept as she was sentenced to probation, community service and a fine.

She was sentenced to two years of probation and 120 hours of community service. The judge also ordered her to continue mental health treatment and pay the sheriff's office $2,550.

The article has pictures of her with her attorney. See the new haircut! ;)

I hope she successfully completes her probation, pays her fines, reimburses the city, and continues mental health counseling to get her life on a straight track.

And hopefully this is the last we'll have to hear of Jennifer Wilbanks.

No, it doesn't make sense. I wonder what else she's done. With five prior arrests, I'll bet there are other incidents (that didn’t end up with her being arrested).
Maybe John is the rescuer type. Maybe he felt he could help her see the right path in life. I think he’s asking for trouble with this book deal, and should really think long and hard before he exposes more of his personal life to the world. But I’ll bet his book (if there is one) will be more of a book about his faith, than anything else. How God got him through this…and all. And how Jennifer should be forgiven. He’s done it.

For now, they will produce a video of him telling his story for promotional purposes - interspersed with clips from the vigil for Jennifer with John praying and keeping the faith. This way he can tell his story at revivals and church gatherings and events without dealing with negatives or questions. He will write a faith-based book about forgiveness and prayer and how his faith was tested and God brought him through unscathed etc. He will make tons of money. His book and his video will not be about Jennifer, it will be about him and his faith and his experience. I am sure he has been encouraged to use his experiences to bring new converts to the church with his inspirational story. It won't be the tabloid tell-all type thing at all - it will be an "inspirational" message.
Perhaps eventually Jennifer will also do the same - telling about her wicked ways and how she was saved and healed by her faith. Once this dies down a bit they could become regular fixtures on religious TV shows. Those are scripted so they can tell only the parts they want or just show clips from their videos or read from their books. To some there is nothing better than a horrific and sordid tale ending in a great redemption at the critical moment.
In the Southern Baptist Faith this type of testimony is not only encouraged but it will almost be expected in this case.

That is just what I saw on CNN before I rushed off to Jazzercise this morning - it was CNN breaking news. Evidently they got it wrong at first.

I was just trying to post it, that's all. You're holding your breath on "leaving her alone", or "putting her messed up life back together"? :)

I wish her the best in her treatment; she is still young enough to make something of her life. I think her sentencing was appropriate; she may have even gotten off easy since she had a prior record. (don't know if those were also erased from her record)

Maybe they can elope to Las Vegas?
