Really not visualizing where the skeletal remains are...

The report first said “in” Crystal River, so I thought water.

But later says “remains were located in a wooded area” so not water?

Then says...
- “near West Dunnellon Road” which runs diagonally SW-NE

-and “in the area of North US 19” (aka US 98, aka N Suncoast Blvd) runs N-S,
-and “North Citrus Avenue”, which also runs N-S-ish.

The intersections of these 3 are not close to each other, so... where the heck were remains found?

Did you see my post with the map?

I'll repost the map:

The article said the remains were found in a wooded area off Dunnellon Road (marked as the blue route) between US 19 (also known as Hwy 98) and North Citrus Avenue (CR 495). The key fact is the remains were off of Dunnellon Road, somewhere between those two major routes. I hope the remains are identified quickly.

Yeah- saw that, thanks! But was trying to pinpoint it more & just couldn’t do it off the language from the article.
-“near” W Dunnellon Rd- vs “off”
-“in the area of” North US 19 & N Citrus Ave vs “in between” the two.

I’m prob taking the language too literally, but it’s a terrible location description imo. When someone says near x rd and y ave it usually means where they intersect. And near a road vs off a road are also different. But nevermind. Not important. Just wait & see what ID says & hopefully what happened to JDD.

If you were thinking of harming yourself, why would you take the life jacket with you?

Still confused why wait till 3 days to report- after he was due back, when no one’s heard from him since the 13th. Still points to marital spat imho.

Just to add to this, especially with the idea of a spat - maybe they were encouraged to give him a day or two after his trip for the return? I know some LE Agencies will say if they are an adult they can come and go as they please, especially without really anything majorly suspicious. Doesn't make it okay or make it true, but sometimes LE isn't super quick to jump on it.

There are multiple possibilities for identification--many families are anxiously awaiting further information from the CCSO.

Good grief- at least 7 possible missing person possibilities if you include the “Jack Don Lewis” that someone tossed out there. I started to chuckle and then thought... oh wow what if! o_Oo_Oo_O

If they have to do dna testing for ID, I hope they at least disclose gender & age range right away. That’s way too many families holding their breath right now. Would also be nice if other identifying clues near the body- like a green kayak or spear gun. Jmo

This seems strange. From an article in March. Can't find any new information from April.

"Stathan said his friend’s truck was parked so close to a palm tree that the truck badly scraped the tree trunk. Stathan said he doesn’t understand why his friend left the truck next to the tree rather than parking it a second time."

Local search for missing fisherman continues; family asks for help

It seems like whoever parked the truck, John or perhaps another person, didn't care about the truck. I read that it scraped the tree trunk, but if that had happened to me, I would have been worried about damage to the truck. I would have moved the truck to prevent any future damage from the tree possibly swaying.

Unless the person who parked it is...
a) not Dax & doesn’t give a hoot
b) a murderer & trying to flee asap
c) Dax right before suicide, so no longer cares about the truck.

Just a few guesses. Prob many more possibilities.

Those were my top 3 guesses. What do you think about the fact that the Levy County deputies say the truck wasn't there on Feb 27th and Feb 28th when the deputies checked the area, yet the LCSO found the truck after a tip on March 3 (Levy County Sheriff's Star: Missing Person John “Dax” Dunn UPDATE).

What I think is that you nailed the golden question, bbm. Feb 27 & 28 was a Th & F, and March 3 was the following Tuesday. Perhaps Dax was still alive that weekend- although people were already actively looking for him. Or someone committed a crime & waited for an opportunity to ditch Dax’s truck. Either way, there should be video footage of that truck- stores, dash cams, ring doorbells. I just can’t imagine someone wouldn’t have seen that truck moving. Not sure what the personnel load is with LE in Ingles & Crystal River, but imo, they need to call in FDLE for some help. Where/ when were Dax’s last pings? Did he have Apple’s step tracker- when did the steps stop? There literally has been no new info released.

I colored the "Circumstances of Disappearance" in red, because I thought that this information was new and important. Before I read this, I had thought that more people had known about this trip, perhaps even his wife? I don't know if I read this, or assumed this, but I'm going to need to think about this new information.

Thank you, @JudgeJoe, for looking up those dates. IMO, it is very interesting the the vehicle was moved possible over the weekend. It would be interesting to know how many vehicles are usually parked at that location, both during the weekend, and during the week.

Since the Coweta County Sheriff's Office is still the LE agency with John's missing person case, are they responsible for doing the investigating in Levy and Citrus counties in Florida (i.e. looking for video evidence of John in either Inglis or Crystal River)? I'm really not sure about how that would happen.
