Gawd, such a brutal crime

The details of this crime are so brutal it is hard to imagine. Having said that though I have a kind of brutal question. They have said that she died of a blunt force hit to the head, and that she was beaten and stabbed. They also have said she was compacted in the trash compacter. I have seen those things work, and my question would be how in the world could they tell that all of the above brutal attacks happened to her little body? I don't know how in the world they could tell she was beaten or that she was killed with blunt force hit to the head. Or even stabbed. jmo

OK... if RB commented on empty apartments and missing children a few weeks before JR disappeared why? WHY on earth would he be fool enough to use an empty apartment? Based on his comment alone seems like Heather would have sent police to EVERY empty apt pronto!!!! KWIM?
Something is fishy here!
or maybe he is just THAT brazen???

You are right. Why didn't LE check the vacant apartments before Monday?

IMO after RB made this comment to Heather, someone (LE, other tenants, or managers at the complex) should have stepped up and alerted the parents about this dangerous situation that existed at the complex and advised them to be extra vigilant and not allow their children outside unsupervised.

Unfortunately these words of wisdom that came from Ryan who worked on the complex and assessed the risk accurately was never conveyed to parents in the complex in a timely manner and next thing you know, an innocent child is murdered weeks later.

Here is what Heather told NG:

GRACE: We are live and taking your calls. And with us, a woman who helped the GBI crack this case, Heather Johnson Coker. And I`ve got to say, the GBI did everything right that we know of in this case, immediately turning up at the scene, going door to door, speaking to neighbors just like Heather in their search not only for Jorelys but who took her.

In the last hours, an arrest goes down. But still at this hour, Mommy separated from her two other little girls because of this incident.

With us, Heather Johnson Coker, the citizen that came forward. Heather, is it true that this guy, who apparently is wearing one of those expensive Hollister jackets -- they`re all over the malls now, apparently - - who -- at the time that he made this statement, that there`s a lot of vacant apartments on the lower level where someone could assault or attack one of the children off the playground -- was that when the other little boy in the complex went missing?

COKER: Yes. That was when the other little boy went missing. He was only missing for a couple of hours.

GRACE: OK. And what happened to him?

COKER: They found him at a friend`s house, I believe.

GRACE: OK. So that aroused everyone`s suspicion, and that is when he made the comment. Heather, let me ask you a couple of more questions. Everyone, also Heather taking your calls, as well. Heather, did you know Jorelys? Had you seen her around the complex?

COKER: Oh, I knew her very well. I saw her every day, talked to her every day. She would come over to my -- to my railing and play with my dog every time we were outside. And she was a sweet little girl. And I knew her very well and I knew her mother. And it`s just really sad that she`s gone.

GRACE: Well, I`m sad tonight also that DFACS has swooped in and taken her two other girls away because of this incident. Mommy works the night shift, correct, and is the sole supporter of three little girls?

COKER: That`s right.

GRACE: What shape is the mom in tonight, Heather?

COKER: I haven`t spoken with her today, but I know that a lot of the family members have come to be with her at this time. But as far as actually seeing her, I have not.

I support LE....they have a lot more than we know about. Prelim DNA can be done in matter of hours and I bet they have at least one DNA match already---plus fingerprints from the empty appartment---- and probably some of the perps blood from the child's body or the mattress. DA's don't file charges without solid evidence!!!

at the tuesday presser at 1030 they said they would have prelim. dna back that day...

ITA...

another neighbor said that LE had been camped out in front of RB's apartement for a few days

his brother said he knew he was a suspect and was questioned for 14 hours

another neighbor said that his apartment was searched and car was taken on monday...

yeah.. I think they have a LOT of hard evidence on this guy in the warrant for arrest imhoo

This goes back to something I read on FB earlier today. A local mentioned that there are many SKELETONS in Jorelys family's closet that haven't come out yet. I wonder if this is what they were referring to.

I really hope the media has some class and doesn't report on the "skeletons" of this poor family. All I care about is prosecuting the monster who did this and making sure that Jorely's siblings are safe and cared for. Beyond that, I don't want to know.

I believe they can tell the order of injuries (what happened before death and what happened after) by bleeding, blood spatter patterns, (blood doesn't spurt out when your heart is not beating), non-bleeding wounds that would have bleed, bruising, lividity (where blood pools after death), etc. They can also often determine what would be a life threatening wound and what would not. She may have been stabbed, but to the ME, perhaps none appeared to be fatal stab wounds. I guess it's pretty clear to the ME that the head trauma happened while alive and that whatever damage it did, it was a fatal injury that would be non-survivable.

That being said, my medical training extends from reading Patricia Cornwell novels and watching Dr. G Medical Examiner.

Translated:
Joseline Rivera said last night while watching the images of the arrest of Ryan Brunn maintenance worker, who allegedly killed his daughter, recalled that the man visited his home in recent days with the interest to "help" in the search Jorelys Rivera Galarza.

The girl was raped, tortured and beaten to death in clashes in Georgia.

"He came here (at home) and asked one of my friends a photo of the girl to help look for ... is a caripelao" said Joseline, who has not been seen in front of the man presumed to be snatched an atrocious way to her daughter.

"I have not seen from the front ... it is assumed that today would see when he filed charges, but will not go. I prefer to stay and wait for me back to the girls. And I tell you honestly, if I see from the front I think I'll skip it, "said Joseline, referring to the view of filing of charges would take place this afternoon.

Preliminary information suggests that authorities Brunn, a maintenance of River Ridge housing complex in Canton, Georgia, Jorelys kidnapped last Friday at 5:00 pm, while the girl was playing near his home.

After kidnap her, took her to an empty apartment and raped her. Then he stabbed her several times and gave him a sharp blow to the head. Later, threw the baby in a dumpster, which was compacted and finished his little body disfigured.

Brunn, who is 20, began working at the site since last November 7 and lived in the same complex of the girl. Relatives of Brunn, who was born in Brooklyn, New York, have proclaimed their innocence. However, the authorities say they have a solid case and sufficient evidence to prove his guilt.

There is a "viewing" scheduled?
I can't imagine that is even possible if she was compacted?

I agree. It doesn't matter if she had been left at the school bus stop previously because that is not what happened here. Poor sweet girl was home safe, and just feet away from her apartment, when she was kidnapped. So none of those past situations matter at this time, imo.

Four instances of lack of supervision according to DFCS.
Riveras mother called the school on two occasions to report her missing. Eventually found at a neighbor's apartment each time. School reported to DFCS.

Happened again third time but the bus driver brought her back to school.

Fourth time, unclear what happened, but DFCS made her sign an 'action plan' about how she will agree to supervise her child and always make sure the child is with an adult. Never followed up after that.... case closed.

I believe the ME can distinguish between injuries which occurred before and after death. moo

I agree with everything you said and those are the same conclusions I came to. I must say hats off to the ME because he did a spectacular job on autopsy. I just can't imagine.

I believe all this is just fodder and will be used by the apt. management company if Jorely's mother tries to sue them. I can't see making it public serves any good purpose. jmo

Brunn confirmed all five of his siblings were adopted in New York City. Records show Karen Ann Whiteley adopted the unrelated boys then moved south to Lumpkin County while they were still small.

"I do remember New York," said Brunn. "We moved up here thinking everything was going to be a little bit better, but moving to Georgia's been a nightmare."

The family lived in a home on Briar Patch Road before neighbors said they abandoned it about two months ago. Brunn confirmed they were homeschooled and that Ryan Brunn earned his GED in Virginia. He said Ryan moved to the Canton apartment complex to work about a month ago.
