IIRC, she was actually lashing out at a girl who was posting about having a new litter of puppies. And then she turned and lashed out at Ryan about leaving his dog with his family instead of taking it with him, and also apparently not getting medical care for it. I'm wondering if that's the dog on the short leash that Steve took out when he told the media to leave the property.

I know some people who are just very into animals and letting a dog have puppies and selling them is just something that drives some animal lovers crazy crazy because they know how many dogs and cats are already out there just waiting to be adopted. So I wouldn't be too all over the sister for that, she could just be that type of "animal" person.

I know people are seeing things on his FB that lead them to believe he is this killer type, but I see it as the opposite, his FB is seemingly umremarkable and that is the scary thing to me.

Could be... seems odd he'd own and ♥ a pitbull and be such a fan of Michael Vick. One contradicts the other.

...unless he's into dogfighting...

Most parents who homeschool do it for reasons that could range from wanting to be more involved, knowing they can do a better job than the public school, religious reasons, etc.

I have known of one family who homeschooled ONE of their 4 children because he just couldn't stay out of trouble in the public school and it was that or Crossroads. (the school for the kids who can't stay out of trouble, which, according to other kids, is a scary proposition.)

Not saying that's the case here, but just a thought.

I could see Ryan acting out after moving from up east to podunk, Georgia. That's quite a change, and factor in being a teen....

His mom is from VA, so I'm guessing he went back for a bit to live with someone on her side of the family, but then he came back to GA and apparently lived at home after he graduated high school. So, perhaps life wasn't too bad at home after all.

This is such a strange case...so violent and brutal. And it apparently came out of nowhere...

They must be discussing letting the cameras in the courtroom, because I can't find a live link. Cherokee News hasn't updated on twitter either...11Alive is following VA Tech live.

The article says the family REGAINED custody, I'd feel more sure if they said 'mom' instead of 'family'. Confusing article-seems to be a few days of articles in one.

<snipped>

An attorney for the father of a 7-year-old Canton girl abducted and killed last week said the family has regained custody of their two other children, who were removed from the home after the girl went missing.

John Connolly said Thursday the parents, Joselinne Rivera and Santos Torres, would take their children home that day.

You are right Jeanna. She was lashing out at a girl whose dog had puppies, and then started in on Ryan about leaving his dog. She also said something like "because of his breed, there needs to be more responsibility in taking care of him. If he looks at somebody funny or acts aggressive in anyway he can get put down." She was referring to Ryan's dog when she said that, so I think it is pretty safe to assume that the "dog on a short leash" was probably Ryan's pit bull.

Yes, It was announced yesterday that she will be buried in PR. Apparently her father lives in PR, but has been working in Florida one the Miami tunnel project.

family is from Puerto Rico . . .

Sociopathy is mostly hereditary. I imagine he has put his adoptive mom thru allot of grief over his lifetime. RB is not normal at all. It is only a mask.

If the court finds him guilty, there is no bullet proof vest that will protect him in prison. I wonder why the media even bothers to report that...

I noticed the condescending tone too. (I managed to copy most of his FB page before it went down.)

On the other hand, could it be that he had a history of animal abuse that she was lashing out about? I mentioned in one of my posts above that murderers often start with animals when they are young.

The sister is right..it's not fair to the dog if he's not trained..in fact, owning a Pit Bull in the city of Cincinnati is illegal. My brother had one years ago in Tennessee while in the Army and she was an awesome dog..great with his kids etc...she was well trained and loved ^i^

Just thinking, if I was not-guilty I would so NOT have my head down; I would be angry & in disbelief. No, I think they have an abundance of evidence & he knows his goose is cooked.

Yeah, Dahlonega is really pretty--North Georgia mountains. There's a B&B up there we like to go to from time to time.

For those not familiar, it's a small town in North Georgia, 55 miles north of Canton, I believe (about 1 and 45 minutes from downtown Atlanta.) It's an old gold mining town so now it's touristy. There's a cute little original town square with kitchy tourist shops and Bed and Breakfasts. There's a military college there too. But other than that ... no mall, no nightlife really, no big movie theater. If you were used to something bigger/more city like, and were a teen, you might think this move sucked golfballs.

I also wouldn't lie to LE and tell them I was at Walmart when Jorelys went missing, when I really wasn't at Walmart. Unless I had a cloak of invisibility somewhere and the cameras didn't pick me up...

I think they deduced it was well-planned from the fact that the perp had to have duct tape, plastic ties, and trash bag ready to go, and have the vacant apartment picked out and equipped with a mattress. Also probably figured that he has already planned to use the compacter. Presumably he also had to know that Jorelys was unsupervised and would walk past the bldg with the vacant apartment. Then he had to kind of hang around and wait for his opportunity. (Guess there was no chance this particular apartment would be shown to a potential tenant while he was using it??)

(Totally OT - This reminds me of a theory I had regarding Caylee Anthony. Since Casey apparently knew that the first apartment she showed police (supposedly Zanny's) was vacant (since that would give credence to her story that the babysitter had apparently skipped town), I always wondered if perhaps Casey was leaving Caylee there in a drugged sleep while she went out, or was (even worse) providing Caylee for the use of someone who used the vacant apartment for his activities. At the time it seemed far-fetched, but with all this talk about unsecured vacant apartments, I am wondering again.)

Etilema,
You have a great list of items the perp had while I think he waited to make his move. (I think your post should be in a sticky if this case gets it's own forum. ;) ) OT- I'll check out your theory about CA later today.
