Mysterious shooting sparks investigation into aspiring model's death

What police initially thought was a serious car crash turned into a murder mystery in Georgia after doctors found a bullet lodged in the neck of an aspiring fashion model involved in a head-on traffic collision, officials said.

Kelsey Quayle, 28, died on Wednesday when her family decided to have her removed from life support machines three days after her white Mazda 626 veered into oncoming traffic and slammed into two cars as she drove to work in the Atlanta suburb of Riverdale.

[...]

Quayle moved to the Atlanta area from California with her boyfriend two months ago...

Here is video footage captured from various angles just seconds before the crash involving Kelsey Quayle occurred. We are asking anyone who may have been traveling along Upper Riverdale Road, in the area of the crash (approx. 7:02 a.m.) to contact us at 770-477-3648. Detectives would like to speak with you about what you may have seen in the area. We would especially like to speak with the driver of the white SUV and the driver of the gray sedan that is seen passing Kelsey's vehicle as it is traveling in the lanes of oncoming traffic.

On October 8, 2018, Kelsey Quayle was involved in a serious motor vehicle accident on Upper Riverdale Road. She was transported from the accident location to Southern Regional Medical Center in critical condition. She was later transported to Grady Memorial Hospital for further treatment.

As doctors at Grady Memorial Hospital worked throughout the night in an attempt to treat Quayle’s injuries, they discovered that she had sustained a gunshot to her neck. Quayle died from her injuries on October 10, 2018.

Which car is KQ?
This is an odd case, even for our big metro area.

seems like mistaken identity of target or wandering bullet

In the street directly in front of the gas station, I believe it's the last white car to drive by. In the last angle, you can actually see that same white car (KQ's) just before impact with oncoming traffic (with what appears to be another white vehicle that she eventually would collide with).

And from the reports, seems that LE definitely wants to speak with whoever was driving the white SUV, or the grey sedan that can be seen driving past her car right before she crashed.

When I saw on local news I looked at her FB page.
Working the NOPI show is a pretty good gig- went to the show at AMS several years ago.

There must be more video since cameras are everywhere here.

There were a couple of guys killed earlier this summer north of this area. They were on I-20 IIRC. I think both are still unsolved.

Not a car professional, but when comparing above still images to google search, the white SUV looks similar to a 2014 or 2015 Ford Expedition XL. This is due to the still image, as it seems there is a darker strip of black or dark grey beneath the white, IMO. Some Ford Expedition models appear to have combo colors like that.

As for the silver vehicle, looks similar to some Mercedes Benz grey sedans, due to the window shape. Jmo

On the CCPD FB page/ your post above, it states...
“the driver of the gray sedan that is seen passing Kelsey's vehicle as it is traveling in the lanes of oncoming traffic.”

Confusing sentence- does CCPD mean they want to talk to gray sedan driver that is passing Kelsey’s car as KQ Car was traveling into oncoming traffic
OR
does CCPD want to talk to gray sedan driver that is passing KQ Car and the gray sedan driver was headed into oncoming traffic?

Yes, it is confusing after re-reading it. I interpreted it to mean the first one you posted, which is they want to talk to the drivers of the two cars (white SUV, grey sedan) that can be seen passing KQ's car; with KQ's car being the one that moved into oncoming traffic at that time. Jmo

Did CCPD release type of bullet used?
Did it go through either side of neck or back of neck?

JMO and wondering

People connected with NOPI as she has a modeling gig with NOPI
Also saw she had a modeling gig with Falken tires
People who go to races she worked or racing associated events

Kelsey Quayle: Aspiring Model's Mysterious Death Leaves Georgia Police Baffled

Police are reviewing surveillance footage from a gas station where Quayle stopped shortly before she veered into oncoming traffic and hit three other cars.

Officials are unsure if Quayle, who had recently moved to Atlanta to pursue a modeling career, was the victim of road rage, caught in a crossfire or specifically targeted.

"It seems to be random at this time," Capt. Scott Stubbs of the Clayton County Police Department told WSB-TV. "We have no reports of anyone reporting any gunfire, no reports of anybody driving erratically."
