Welcome to WS!!!

Are either Kenneth or Shelly related to any Groovers?

I think I remember a neighbor being interviewed and her name was Terri Groover? Not sure if they are related though.

Good Evening All,

Newbie here. I had been following this thread since I first typed in Lori's name into google and found it. Great work on what you guys have been able to piece together. I used to live in Hinesville, sometime ago and I knew Kenny and Shelly along with numerous family members and friends of both Lori's and the Lumpkins. The first thing I would like to say is that Shelly was/is not the type of woman that would tolerate her husband doing something and just ignore it. She is a wonderful woman and is very compassionate.

You must remember that Kenny (who is/was a correctional officer) might have had defensive wounds but could have easily justified them due to the nature of his job. If Shelly suspected anything at all she would have told someone. That said, you have to remember that this is a very small tight knit community where everyone knows everyone. I am totally creeped out by what has been brought to light regarding additional possible "victims" but I can not say I am surprised. Has anyone looked into people that have been found (not just the missing), with no known suspects?

When I knew Kenny he was at least 30 lbs lighter. So the sketches would be fairly accurate to the time frame I knew him. Does anyone know where he grew up? Things seem to be to "neat" for this to be a first time crime. I would love to know if he attended the vigil the night before for Deborah Moody. Seems like he was pretty brave in knowing he was the last one to see Lori, yet totally integrating himself in with the search and hanging with the family etc. Wonder how he acted after Deborah disappeared...Was he there, hanging around, assisting with any searches?????

BBM

Welcome! I just came on this thread to ask this very question! I have been waiting for someone to acknowlege that these composites look like the young Kenny. I have also wondered the same about found yet not closed cases. So far I see a pattern of at least one a year... with a couple of years nothing showing yet. Any other patterns you can see?

Teri is not related to the Lumpkins. She was their next door neighbor way back when, and now lives right down the street. She was very close to both the Lumpkins and to Lori. The horse community is a tight knit one, If you own horses in Gumbranch or Hinesville, you would probably know everyone involved, Teri boards horses. The Groovers are a very well known family down there. I do not know a Rally Dr., Honestly it has been way to long since I lived there. Hope this helps a little. I know that LE has seen this thread so I am hoping people continue to post ideas on here.

The reason I asked about the Groover name is I am looking for some sort of "KL" connection to the Kristi Cornwell case. IMO, it's a long shot, but still worth a look.

  • #385
I stand corrected...she is related by marriage.

  • #386
The relation is to Shelly.....Cousin by marriage.....I think. Sorry for the bad info...

  • #387
How is the groover name related to Kristi?

need to know Lori's cause of death. I too had looked at Jennifers case this would have made Kenneth approx 20-21 yrs old. I need to find a way to find out what he was doing with is life in those years. I know I had found others area he had resided such as Shaw AFB and Sumter SC . From Athens to Shaw its 3 hours and 40 min and to the Hinesville area its 4 hours and 6 minutes. I also think looking at some of the Savannah unsolved and missing will be important as well.

What exactly were his dutys ? Did he transport ever ect?

The Florida line is only a 45 minute drive from Gumbranch.....Has anyone looked South? There was not a whole lot to do in this area until the last few years. You either went to Savannah or you went to FL. I do not remember the name but there are a bunch of outlet stores right over the line that everyone used to frequent for clothing...etc.

Ok this case may be very far fetched.....BUT I saw the photo and I thought that the description might fit the profile...http://gbi.georgia.gov/00/case_detail/0,2695,67862954_74031412_88917557,00.html.... thoughts?

Here is another woman from UGA nine years later. Not the same mo as he has now but his mo has probably evolved over the years, that is if he is what is suspected. moo

She doesn't have brown hair, but I suspect him in the black womens' deaths also, so even though he has a preference, he may also take advantage of opportunities as well.

Welcome! :) My thoughts and prayers for Shelly as well as all of Lori's family. They all must be devastated now. MOO

Shelly posted on Loi's wall on Sunday at 11:00 with what must be the understatement of the month...
from http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=571257190&v=wall&ref=ts

"Shelly Lumpkin LOri, as you look down on us from heaven, just know that you were my best friend. I'm really gonna miss you. I don't understand any of this. I love you ."

I cannot imagine what she must be feeling.

I don't know if I believe they are doing this "just in case."

If they are... these guys have a major guilty conscience for not connecting him to Gail sooner. A few serial killers have put all their victims in one area, but not very many.

He obviously told them where they could find Lori, nothing they found in the house led them to that precise location.

He obviously knows he's going away for life anyway.

I wonder if he also told them Gail was in the same area? Or possibly they found a journal which mentions going to that area on the day Gail disappeared?

It is in the same vicinty of Tower Rd, although I can't find it on any maps located correctly, just like you won't find Tower Rd on a map either. A lot of roads out there were only recently named.

The video is only a 12 second clip. The interview is airing on the 6pm news. Just in the 12 second clip when he says he was told she was missing, he breaks down. The interview will be hard to watch I am sure.

Husband Home From Iraq Speaks Out On Wife's Murder

Nathon Arrowood talked about the helpless feeling of getting notification of her disappearance and being on the other side of the world and unable to do anything. He also talked about his suspicion of his wife's friend, Kenny Lumpkin and Lumpkin's involvement in the search.

"How could someone have the audacity? How? To face family, to face her daughter -- it's beyond me," he said.

Nathon Arrowood said he heard from Kenny Lumpkin last week during the search while the army was trying to get Nathon back home.

Lori's Obituary

Lori was a beautiful woman who was full of life. She was a great wife and mother and was always smiling. Lori was "tough as nails" when she needed to be, but was always willing to lend a helping hand. Her love for the outdoors was second only to the love she felt for her children and her husband.......
