I just got off the phone with Tonya's sister.....all they know is the guy charged is the same guy who stole the car, no more information.....where is Monica???????

Please pray for her, pray for Linda, Monica's mom, she is sick, physically, from this, she needs our love, strength and prayers....all involved.

Yeah it makes me wonder why now? Why not weeks ago? What new info do they have? Sending prayers for Monicas family--that thye finally get the answers to this and will be able to deal with whatever happened. So very very sad!

I am so glad they made an arrest! Maybe the answers of where Monica is will come soon from this . (He might try to make a deal for it.)

I feel so sad for Monica's mother and family. I don't see how a mother can not end up emotionally and physically sick when her daughter has been grabbed from her own apartment and you know what that probably means.

I too hope that this car thief/kidnapper will open his mouth and start talking. Maybe if they tell him they won't go for the death penalty but will give him LWOP instead he will talk. No matter how horrible these killers are and how many lives they take the DON'T want to die. Sing boy sing :furious: This mama needs to know where her daughter is.

This is so frustrating! Why isn't this being hammered on the news? It isn't like we have some big local story taking everyone's attention.

I guess I'm just surprised that some reporter hasn't taken this story and run with it. It's so creepy to think that a woman can just be grabbed by her own home, with witnesses, and never seen or heard from again.

They need to go put the squeeze on her boyfriend again. I think he set it up and he knows exactly what happened to Monica. If he thinks this pig is going to squeal on him...maybe he will go for the deal first. Either way...they would learn what happened to her. My gut keeps telling me he did this for revenge for her "sending" him to jail by telling the truth.

Monica Bowie kidnapping suspect charged

Yesterday DeKalb County Police charged 24-year-old Jasper Keels of Decatur in connection with the kidnapping of Monica Renee Bowie. Bowie has been missing since July 5.

11 Alive reports that police believe the motive for the kidnapping was “illegal narcotics activity.”

DeKalb County officials said Thursday that they had charged a man in the disappearance of a woman from her apartment off Roxboro Road in July.

Jasper Keels, 24, of Decatur has been charged with kidnapping in connection with the disappearance of Monica Bowie. Bowie was reportedly abducted from the Berkshires of Lenox apartment complex in early July. Witnesses said they had heard a woman screaming, then saw a burgundy car speeding away.

Bowie's burgundy 2002 Mercury Sable was found burned in southwest Atlanta a few days later. Keels was arrested at that point and charged with theft-by-taking, but was not charged with Bowie's kidnapping until this week.

Keels has been in the DeKalb County Jail since that point on the earlier charges.

"We have not established the whereabouts of Ms. Bowie, but we suspect she has met with foul play," said DeKalb County Police Lt. Tim Hunt.

Police said they believe the arrest is the first of many in Bowie's disappearance.

"The motive behind this kidnapping is believed to be illegal narcotics activity," said Hunt. "We have not established that Mr. Keels knew Ms. Bowie."

WOW, the police actually sacrificed that girl's life to try to hold out for some big bust ?????

This is a damned shame. They could of made this guy spill the beans while she still had the chance but all they were after was some drugs.

This is a damned shame. They could of made this guy spill the beans while she still had the chance but all they were after was some drugs.

Maybe we need to be combing the papers to see about any drug busts in Metro Atlanta in the last few weeks??

According to police reports, Mr. West, who was driving the car, said the men had borrowed the rental car and were on their way home after visiting family in Atlanta for the weekend. The car’s rental agreement was with a female in Pennsylvania, and neither man was listed as having permission to drive it.
Mr. Abdullah got defensive when the officer asked to search the Galant and ran away after officers asked if the suitcase in the trunk was his, according to the incident report. A pursuit involving several units and a helicopter ensued.
Back at the car, officers found eight one-gallon Ziploc bags of marijuana. Mr. Abdullah was located soon after and was transferred to Anderson Area Medical Center after saying he needed to see a doctor.
A background check showed Mr. Abdullah also was wanted in Georgia on multiple charges of aggravated assault and battery, as well as kidnapping, armed robbery and conspiracy, according to the incident report.

Wow! This case is developing some interesting twists, but none which surprise me. I think we knew it was drug related in some way. Doesn't make me suspect the bf any less hearing about the other things tho.

I wonder if they have really leaned on the guy they have in jail? Is he stupid enough to want to take the rap alone? I sure wouldn't. If I did something wrong along with others I would sing like a bird if I was the only one facing prison. Why should the others get away with it and only me go to prison.

What kind of an alibi does the boyfriend have anyway?

Family has contacted us asking for help. No progress has been made in this case. BF is in jail in FL on unknown charges, the guy that was arrested for the stolen/burnt car is still in jail.

Yesterday I spoke with LE Commander in Pittsburgh who has agreed to order DNA tests and submit to Mom and sis. I sent him all pert. info in email this morning. (so, ATL LE never helped with this, I sent them all this back in July )

My first plan is to pull together good case summary and try to get the news to pick this up again..maybe get some tips. Gracie is close to the area Monica was kidnapped and I asked her to revive the billboard idea. Prob we were having with this in the past w/getting board donated was the relation to drugs in the case I believe.

I have just spoke with Dekalb County homocide that we spoke with at the canvass. They are going to look into this.
