Rivera was recently found guilty of malice murder, felony murder and two counts of aggravated assault...

“For a young child to die at the hands of a grandmother is almost unimaginable,” said DeKalb County District Attorney Robert James. “To call this a senseless act of violence would fail to convey the brutal beatings Neveah suffered by the woman who should have been caring for her and her other siblings.”

A jury convicted Rivera of murder in the death of her 3-year-old granddaughter, Neveah Pinckney. Prosecutors said Rivera beat the child with a pipe, then stuffed her body inside a closet. Neveah's 8-year-old sister discovered the body.

"She was bruised and battered and beaten to the point that the medical examiner said her body could no longer sustain life," prosecutor Lee Williams said.

How awful for her poor sister, I don't see how anyone could beat a toddler like that. It's sickening, that she gets the possibility of parole.
