VERDICT WATCH GA - Quinton Simon - Missing From Home - Mom ARRESTED- Savannah #5

Q wasn't smart like Z. LS told T she did not love Q - at all.

This witness is very credible IMO.

Q would often spend the night at their home frequently. They didn't mind, they knew he wasn't getting proper care at home and wanted to "love on" him as much as possible. T is bawling briefly. Q never wanted to go with her when LS would pick up the kids.

DY loved the kids, treated them as they should be treated, he was good with them.

Looking forward, the Defense should watch their Ps and Qs when crossing this minor witness if they know what is good for them.

They would have Quinton for WEEKS at a time without her ever calling to check on him. Quinton would be there but the other kids would not be. He never wanted to leave their house :(
I am glad at least he got to experience loving and stable home for at least those periods.

One time Leilani called her at 4 am to come get Quinton because she was aggravated by him.
I can think of another time Leilani should have called her to come get Quinton. :(

Then Quinton could still be alive.

I'm glad Quinton had people in his life who loved and cared for him.

Tragic it wasn't his mother.

D: did you call (CPS) or anyone when you say these incidences happened?
C: no.

seems to be focused on her inability to remember dates and the fact this minor girl who would have been 15 at the time I think did not report LS abusive behavior to LE or CPS
Hah, what else do they have with this witness other than picking on her over dates? She gave a really clear picture of Quinton’s short life with Leilani, that’ll be tough to ignore.

I think presenting the last two witnesses in the order they did was a masterstroke by the prosecution.

By following the seance lady with the teenager, suddenly, the weird stuff from the first testimony drops away and what you're left with us the strong similarities between the accounts of the attitude LS had about her son. And not just implicit - attitudes she would loudly proclaim to a 14/15 year old kid who is actually parenting her son.

It was a great move. They couldn't remove the woo from witness one, so they balanced her against witness two to make her more credible. Very clever.

Very true. I just wish that the prosecution would have coached her not to freely engage in that narrative should the defense bring it up on cross. It was almost like she couldn't wait to say all that. I get that most people don't subscribe to her beliefs. I myself am an astrologer and spiritual empath but if I were on that jury I would have rather not heard her SPIRITUAL personal account of things, regardless.

The story back then in 2022 was that she and her husband traveled for work often.
It’s starting to sound like the grandparents were rarely at home. Either that or grandma turned a blind eye at some of the abuse. What was the point of her having custody if Leilani was living in the same house other than making sure that the kids were fed and received some health care?

It’s so sad that a minor babysitter played the part of mother to Quinton. Shame on Leilani AND grandma!

I think her air of arrogance meant she was always going to talk about it if asked. By managing her the way they did, they mitigated the damage to her credibility and shored up her actual testimony of tangible events by having the teenager follow her.

So instead of "she's bonkers, we can't trust a word she says" the jury is left with, "she's got some unique personal beliefs, and she's a bit up herself, but what she said about LS's attitude to Quinton is likely true because it's corroborated by this other, credible witness". And these two witnesses did not know each other, so they could not have cooked up this together.

I don't think she could have been presented better, really, and she added something to the prosecution's case which was of actual value, and I say that having firmly decided she was a disaster while she was actually talking. I was wrong, prosecution did know what they were doing.

That said, it was an excellent cross. Hilliard annihilated her. But I think not enough for the teenager not to balance her out. And that is the impression we were left with.

What I don't understand is why all this was going on if grandmother had custody?
imo she didn't give a toss about poor Q either!
She was the one with custody, if she had to work then she should have made arrangements ensuring he was well cared for, not dumped with a person who had their custody rights removed!

Exactly why I am praying that grandma doesn't get custody of the other two which she is actively seeking still. That would be ridiculous and sad imo. I hope that some day Danny gets Sky back himself if he is stable and sober. I could really tell that he loved and care for all of the children via his testimony ~ sometimes frustrated with them or not. At least he was THERE for them when not working his fanny off.

She had custody and left them with LS, who had to pay the babysitter. The grandmother should have been paying the babysitter when she wasn't available for the kids.
