Lemmons talking about the text messages between LS and CW.

LS denied there was a sexual relationship between the two.

After the phone extraction, there was a report generated that included communication between LS and CW. He had been saved as a contact in her phone for less than three weeks before Quinton's death.

Dean's counter argument is that he is a private citizen who is being compelled to testify about sexual and criminal matters for which he will never be tried.

Hilliard counter argues that catering to his embarrassment is treating him uniquely compared to every other witness and person in the court. "I don't see why we should make an exception. He's not that special."

Judge is not going to require Mr Westin to testify with the cameras on. She requires that cameras not roll or record. But it's still an open courtroom with members of the media and public present who are allowed to report on what they see and hear.
Thank you!! I appreciate your input. That’s about what I got but still, it’s interesting that the judge ruled to turn the camera off.

I guess it won’t matter too much since the jury heard the testimony and that’s the important part.

Her communication with him made it clear that they were having a sexual relationship and were arranging meetups at Arkwright Lane for sex.

There's something inherently weird about the gravity of a courtroom that requires educated professionals to read obscene sexting complete with all the swearing.

I can't transcribe most of this because TOS.

  • #805
It's a wonder she ever got to work at all, seems she spent most of the time she should have been sleeping banging or sexting her dealer.

Hilliard on cross.

He's asking about other messages that Dean didn't cover. Asks her what a 'fifty' is, Lemmons says she doesn't know.

Says another message from the 26th implies they hadn't had sex.

Another message is about Percocet.

Another is about marijuana.

Don't know where Hilliard is going, it's not like we don't know CW was her dealer as well.

Redirect.

Dean clarifies that both having sex and buying drugs were involved in their relationship.

And we're done with Det. Lemmons for now.

And the next witness is CW, who will not be filmed.

Police officer testified about the day they found Quinton in the landfill. At the end of her testimony she began to cry.

Done for the day. Judge dismissed an arrest warrant for Craig Westin, I guess it was part of his agreement of immunity.

Imagine the horror that so many people went through because Leilani wouldn’t own up to her crime. I hope they all have access to professional help.

Court tomorrow 10 am, 10:30 for us.

Okay, I've skipped ahead, hopefully to the right place.

Prosecution expects to rest tomorrow afternoon or early Thursday. Court tomorrow will begin at 10am (10:30am with delay).

LS practically SQUEEZED out a few tears, after watching the detective who searched for and found Quintons little skull get emotional on the stand. She knew it made her look bad if she didn't. Can I say that I hate her twice?

Next witness: Kimberly Johnson.

Works for the FBI as a Forensic Accountant.

Her job is literally to follow the money, in an office, behind a computer.

She also works as a member of the Evidence Response Team.

Whoa she did the landfill search. Sounds like she worked the line. But it also sounds like she started out doing ERT during 9/11, so she certainly has experience.

It's such a dissonance. She looks at numbers all day. She's a middle aged lady who looks like she could belong to a knitting group.

Raking trash to find a murdered baby is such a vastly different image to that. But I guess to be a forensic accountant, the important features are being patient and meticulous, and you need that for a landfill search.

She's describing the layout of the area they were using for the searches. Where the food was, the supplies, the PPE.

They had runners who would take buckets or trays containing questioned material to where the forensic anthropologist was set up to review items of interest.

Most people on the line had a 'bone bag' on their waist to collect items. When the line was fully searched, those items would be put in the buckets and taken to be assessed.

Gear was steel toed boots, tybex suits, booties duct taped on, larger yellow boots, multiple layers of gloves duct taped on, work gloves. Safety vests. Sun hats, respirators, safety goggles. All very hot, but kept the smell down and kept them safe. Used fireman's rakes to sort through the trash on the search deck.

Heavy equipment operators used an excavator to fill a dump truck with trash, it was dumped out in a line and then spread out with a smaller excavator. The witness referred to this as a line.

A forensic anthropologist onsite was screening any bones found. Hundreds of bones were found a day. Chicken wings, barbeque bones, other animal remains are all present in landfill.

It would take 30mins every morning to suit up, and then the same again to suit up after lunch.

Every single line searcher was a volunteer.

They are the real unsung heroes in this case. I can't imagine what a thankless, hot, sweaty, stinky, gross task this search was. but they brought this baby home and are a big part of getting justice for him.

They're showing photographs from the site taken one day by an FBI photographer. She's explaining where things were in relation to each other using the pictures.

One of the excavator operators was a volunteer from the parks department knowledgeable in heavy machinery.

Showing them booting up.

Showing them standing in a line, suiting up ready to go again.

Between 20-40 searchers a day.

Showing them searching the line of chewed up garbage.
