After doing 164 days of jury selection and the next 100 days of trial with the jury, I was happy to be there for the verdict. And it warms my heart that I was able to offer kindness and a smile to everyone involved in the case. My mission is complete

The Fulton County justice system is really a mess. The jail is a sewer full of people that have been there for months with no charges or appointed counsel because the DA can't move the cases along. This case ate up the time of how many assistant district attorneys and staff for well over a year, the Trump case is eating up staff time and funds. The job of prosecuting the rank and file criminal cases seems to have taken a back seat in Atlanta.

Maurice will be there behind the camera. We filed another Rule 22 yesterday to cover our bases. Hopefully, there will be no issue this time.

Judge Whitaker is on the bench and the plea hearing for Jimmy Winfrey is underway.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Adam Abbate is conducting the hearing on behalf of the state. He said they are dismissing count 26, participating in criminal street gang activity.

He is pleading guilty to RICO, a drug and a gun charge.

"He is ready to go home and put this behind him," his attorney said. She said Winfrey was friends with Young 🤬🤬🤬🤬 since they were young. He asked to be allowed to talk to Young 🤬🤬🤬🤬 for work as an entertainment manager.

Winfrey was sentenced on RICO to 10 years to serve 16 months, with credit to time serve and the remaining balance on probation. He was sentenced to time serve on the drug charge and 7 years probation on the gun charge, all sentences to run concurrently.

Conditions of the plea include not being in contact with any of the co-defendants or witnesses in the trial. There is an exception of him being able to be in contact with co-defendants in work environment.

"You are in an industry where a whole lot of young people watch with great attention every detail of everything y'all do on and off stage and with that kind of stuff of influence and audience, you really should be trying to set a good example," Whitaker told Winfrey.

"I understand totally what you said," Winfrey told Whitaker, adding that he wants to make a positive impact on the community moving forward. "I appreciate you for helping me take the first step towards that, and I won't let you down," Winfrey said.

Whitaker told the state that she expects to see them on December 17, if not before, for any additional plea deals.

PeeWee Roscoe has accepted a plea deal, pleading guilty to RICO & drugs/gun charges. He accepts time served + 8 years of probation. No contact with co-defendants during his probation.

His lawyer puts on the record that "no contact" with co-defendants refers to personal contact and carves out an exception for "professional contact" with Young 🤬🤬🤬🤬

Roscoe briefly addresses the court, after his plea was accepted. He should be a free man again today.Sounds like, if there's no other pleas, the second trial has a hearing on December 17th.

Trump is who they should have held without bail.

I spoke to juror No. 71 about the #ysltrial. He told me that they didn't have enough to convict YoungThug, Deamonte Kendrick and Shannon Stillwell.

He also mentioned, like some jurors have, that Adriane Love didn't go back to speak to the jury.
He felt Love, at times, took things personally.

If YoungThug hadn’t pleaded guilty to gang, drug and gun charges on Halloween night, the rap superstar might have walked free, two jurors said after the lengthy trial ended this week.

...

The single guilty verdict was a blow to Fulton County prosecutors, who spent more than a year arguing “Young Slime Life” was a violent gang led by the Grammy-winning rapper. YSL, they contended, was responsible for a series of robberies, shootings and the deaths of three rival gang members.

In a press conference announcing the indictment in May 2022, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis said she would seek the maximum penalties for the 28 defendants charged, alleging gangs are responsible for “75 to 80% of all of the violent crime” in Fulton County.

On the Donovan Thomas murder, juror 71 said Woody lost credibility and the state didn't back up Kendrick and Stillwell allegedly being there with phone records. On the Drinks murder, he said he never saw a shot or flashes.

I found this part interesting from a juror: "The juror said he thought the lead prosecutor took things personally at times during the trial, especially during closing arguments." Her body language during closings spoke to at least this juror. Reminder, Love didn't present closings, she was at the table and was pretty animated at times.
