Did any of the people taking pleas actually get jail time? I keep seeing 8-10 years probation? How was RICO used to send mobsters away for so long? Is it because there were definite murders in those cases?

Day 3 Court was in session until almost 8:30pm last night in #YoungThug #YSL trial. Jury was sent home at 6pm, but the parties argued over the state's first witness and his slide presentation. The state had not turned over that presentation to all of the defense attorneys

Judge Glanville was once again not happy with the prosecution. Their first witness will be detective Mark Belknap who Glanville has qualified as a gang expert. He apparently has 70 ish slides to use in his testimony. Glanville excluded some of the slides.

Court is set to begin at 9:30 this morning, but we all know how that goes…..

Per @InfamousSylvia , Judge Glanville asked the attorneys to be in place by 9:30 so they can start at 10am. We also know this court starts whenever…..

Williams turned around chatting with co-defendant Shannon Stillwell and Stillwell's attorney Max Schardt.

Detective Mark Belknap is the state's first witness. He is a fact witness and also qualified as a gang expert. Today he'll be testifying as a gang expert. Later in the trial, he'll be called as a fact witness to testify about the investigation.

Yesterday's X posts from ajc reporter (15 hrs ago). Jury already released and Judge and Counsels were having discussion.

@JozsefPapp_

The state has mentioned they intend to call around 400 witnesses.

I will say this, it's almost 7:30 p.m. and we have been discussing this presentation from the FIRST witness for more than an hour. The jury was released for the day shortly before 6 p.m. @AJC

7:27 PM · Nov 28, 2023

The state's first witness' presentation is 79 slides but Judge Glanville has instructed the state that slides 43, 44, 45 will need to be excluded and slide 70 will need to be changed.

"I'm not doing this again. This is the last time without good cause...I'm not doing this again," Judge Glanville told attorneys before dismissing them for the day. Jury was released at 5:55 p.m. and it is now 8 p.m.

7:57 PM · Nov 28, 2023

"I'm very annoyed," Judge Glanville just said as we are still in court at 8:12 p.m. The problem now is that the state is not sharing the information they need to be sharing to all the attorneys, just to some.

the defendants can listen with headphones to the sidebars? Don't know why I am asking like it's a question, just struck me as interesting. Not as interesting as the myriad other stuff that has gone down in this trial and the run up to it, of course...

@cathyrusson

Belknap: Non-traditional gangs are usually based in neighborhoods. They'll have specific identifiers but likely less than a traditional gang. Because they are local, they don't really have a hierarchy to answer to so they may change up their colors/signs.

Does anyone here listen to his music?

@cathyrusson

Belknap: There different ways to get into a gang. 1. Beat into a gang, taking a physical beating. 2. Blessed into the gang. 3. Sexed into a gang, typical for female members.

I've never listened to his music, have you?

I have not but I generally don't listen to hip hop that came out after the 90s/early early 00s.

I think they wanted to get through 6 witnesses today. There's been one objection after the next. At this rate we won't even make it though cross examination of the 1st witness. :rolleyes:

Guilty or not all the defendants deserve a fair trial. I'm side-eyeing the way Judge Glanville has stepped in to ask questions to the witness on the stand. If A. Love can't get to where she's trying to go with the witness that's on her and not for the judge to jump in to help her get there.
