Court didn't start until after 11 because defense attorneys were questioning Detective Belknap before he is called to take the stand. Attorney Bruce Harvey told judge there are some "legal matters" that need to be taken care of before Belknap takes the stand.

Judge Glanville arrived on the bench, took roll and then told attorneys that he was going to dismiss the jurors for lunch since he has a meeting at 12:15 p.m. and there are other things that need to be taken care of regarding APD Detective Mark Belknap.

NEW: State asking for tomorrow's media hearing to be cancelled on state's motion to limit broadcast in #YoungThug #YSL case. The camera will stay in the courtroom. Likely there will continue to be some witnesses we won't show on camera but will have audio as has already been happening.

Defense attorney Bruce Harvey says they (all defense teams) have been no part of any meeting/negotiations between prosecution and media. Their clients have a right to a public trial and they want a say so. Judge is saying they should set up a meeting with state, media attorneys, etc...

Defense and state attorneys only will meet tomorrow at 3pm (no camera) to talk about the state's motion to limit media broadcast.

Judge Glanville ordered defense attorneys, prosecutors and media attorneys to meet tomorrow at 3 p.m. to come to an agreement.


A hearing scheduled for tomorrow regarding whether or not the media can show state witnesses’ on camera and publish their names when testifying has been rescheduled to next week.

The reason there is no YSL today is because Judge Glanville is upstairs in his courtroom listening to pre-trial motions in the death penalty case against Robert Aaron Long, the man charged in the 2021 spa shooting rampage that killed eight people across metro Atlanta.

Friday’s hearing to determine whether cameras will be able to show witnesses has been postponed. Instead, Judge Glanville has ordered prosecutors, defense & media’s counsel to meet tomorrow inside his courtroom at 3 pm.

If the parties are unable to come to an agreement, then Judge Glanville will hold a hearing on Feb. 8.

Prior to postponing the motion hearing, prosecutors told Judge Glanville that they were close to coming to an agreement with the media’s counsel. Defense attorney Bruce Harvey expressed concern that they were not involved in the process

Attorney Careton Matthews asked the state’s witness, who is testifying about an incident involving Christian Eppinger from 2016, if any of the defendants in the courtroom were involved in the incident, the witness said the defendants were not involved.

The media partners and prosecutors, along with defense attorneys, met on Friday to discuss an order on who the media can film and photograph while on the stand.The order has still not been finalized.

Before the jury is brought back from a break, defense attorneys notified the judge that the media did not show the last state witness on camera. Judge Glanville said he needs to be notified when the state is asking for a witness to not be shown.

Belknap is testifying about a series of Facebook posts made by Christian Eppinger. Eppinger was severed from the case after his alleged relationship with a courtroom deputy was revealed.

Detective Mark Belknap, who was also the state's first witness in the YSL trial, is back testifying in court today. Prosecutors ask Belknap not be shown on camera, even though he was shown on camera when he first testified back in November.

Prosecutors are showing Belknap and the jury different videos showing alleged members of YSL, “Young Slime Life”, including Young .Belknap is then describing what the videos show and who the people in the videos are.

Video shown in #YoungThug trial today shows a very young child throwing alleged gang signs. The prosecution has been showing home-like videos shot many years ago (up to 15 yrs ago) of and others allegedly associating themselves with a gang.

'I'm Not Gonna Have This Conversation Again': Young Judge Admonishes State Over Witness Privacy​

The defense in the YSL RICO case told Judge Ural Glanville the media did not show the last state witness on camera per request from the prosecution. Judge Glanville admonished the state about it, saying he needs to be notified when the state asks the media to not show a witness on camera. "I'm not gonna have this conversation again," the judge told the state.
