Thanks Rocky1, great explanation.The DOJ would get involved because they may feel there's a conflict of interest in regards to the current DA. In this case, I would agree.
It's the job of the DA to convince the jury that Rolfe intended to kill Brooks. It's also the job of the DA to drop the charges if he feels there's not enough evidence to convict.
It's also the job of the DA to wait until an investigation is complete before charges are filed, and in this case, that never happened.
The GBI was not even notified in advance of the press conference that the DA planned on filing these charges. IMO the DA was in a rush to do that. <modsnip: If you can't discuss it, don't mention it.>
