Interesting that the mayor called the taser in that case a lethal weapon.
So, are we to believe a taser is only a lethal weapon in the hands of a police officer?

I would rather not see LE babysit criminals. I want to live in a world where laws are enforced. I can see why criminals would want a pass especially those that have a record. One of my friends said, “they could drive him to the sister”. (But he is from Europe, different mentality). However, at least calling the sister and asking her to come pick him up.
I think we have to be smarter than the criminal or lawbreaker. If you were a cop, would you rather try to arrest someone at the best possible time for you or them?My "suggestion" is to just follow the law. And don't resist arrest, or an adverse reaction may happen. Something I and many have learned over the years.
I think it can be if someone knows how to use it.So, are we to believe a taser is only a lethal weapon in the hands of a police officer?

I think we have to make a distinction between “criminals” and someone with a dui or other misdemeanor. I think it would be better to use police resources going after real criminals.I would rather not see LE babysit criminals. I want to live in a world where laws are enforced. For the police. I think and its mostly a guess but i do think that new tech like face recognition software could be an integral part of the planbest time for cop or criminal?? Can you clarify?
I can see the results now of LE calling for rides because someone is irresponsible and can't follow the law as they are written.......I would rather not see LE babysit criminals. I am not an expert on tasers. But, my understanding is that once the leads have been shot out of said taser they both have to hook into someones clothing or skin, then someone has to know what comes next. I guess sometimes people continue to shock someone over and over or for a longer duration. So you think it can be lethal if LE uses it, but not lethal when a criminal uses it?? That’s convenient.

Yes, i am serious. Would you rather arrest someone where you have less control of the environment? What?? Seriously?
That makes sense to me.I think we have to make a distinction between “criminals” and someone with a dui or other misdemeanor. I think it would be better to use police resources going after real criminals.
What I meant was degree of criminality, and you are right dui is a poor example. But, in Mr. Brooks’ case in might have been better to impound his car and give him a ticketCome on now!! Since drinking and driving is in fact illegal he is a criminal. A drunk driver is a REAL criminal. Drunk drivers KILL people. Do deaths only count if LE is involved?
I did not say leave them alone, i said handle it differently. If in this case his car was impounded and he went home to family this would not have happened. If you want to tell me how police can be trained in a few weeks to subdue someone like Mr. Brooks efficiently after a few months of training, i am all ears. That makes sense to me.
Leave the drunk driver alone til he kills someone and then go after him because now he's a criminal.
Got it.

It isnt working. People get killed, then cops are blamed, then comes retribution. The cycle repeats. My "suggestion" is to just follow the law. And don't resist arrest, or an adverse reaction may happen. Something I and many have learned over the years.
