Unless something comes out that we don’t know about yet the LE officer was totally justified to use deadly force.

I appreciate your opinion. What could come out that we dont know yet? The officer was fired and might be charged, Mr. Brooks is dead. So, l guess it will just be what the officers might say or perhaps more video evidence. I am curious though about how adamant you and so many others are that lethal force was justified. I am pretty sure the police themselves have not finished investigating the case.

Why did the police chief resign over this?

People aren't going to like that at all. Think Mexico and most of South America.
There are plenty of options before we reach the military solution. I did say it would be the last resort.

Things are moving quickly now, so it just might come sooner than we think. JMOO

The rioters and looters don't give a turd about the cause.
Of course they don’t. The looters are merely opportunists, when they get caught running off with that big screen tv they claim they are protesting.

They moved quickly to fire him so those “protesting” wouldn’t burn the city down. The fired police officer was sadly the sacrificial lamb.

I don’t know what could come out. What I do know is that you need to follow LE orders. Scuffling with officers, stealing a taser off an officer, running away and pointing an object at an officer will most likely end in tragedy.

I watched a man being interrogated by the police, for quite some time on video. Mr Brooks was polite, but obviously impaired. Bottom line, he had no business getting behind the wheel of a car last night. What changed from his polite demeanor to the resisting arrest and taking a police officers weapon, firing the same at the officers. Fear? Or stupidity?
Don't spit into the wind!!

I think you are guessing here, the police chief quit too. I wish they were a bit more transparent in why this is all happening, don’t you?

My first question would be is a tazer a lethal weapon? Secondly, I would ask if the officer thought he was going to be tazed would he reasonably believe that he would be rendered helpless and thus at the mercy of Mr. Brooks ? Keeping in mind that up until that point Mr. Brooks’ sole intention appears to be escaping. Dont forget about the other officer, he is important too.
A taser is considered a less lethal weapon than a gun but is by no means non-lethal. People have died as a result of being tasered. If the officer was hit with the teaser it would render him helpless because he would have had no voluntary control of his muscles. Mr. Brooks intent was to get away but once he took the taser and fired it in the direction of the officer, his intent appeared to change.

Does he at anytime appear to try to harm either officer excepting of course when he points the tazer at one while running away. This could speak to his state of mind, in a courtroom of course, not necessarily here...

I thought he appeared to keep running in one direction and then turned his torso partially, pointed the tazer and then continued running never breaking stride. As far as something being less lethal than something else l dont know about that. Maybe Falcon 500 could help us if he is still around?
What in Mr. Brooks’ actions tells you he was going to suddenly stop and attack the officer?

From multiple videos, Mr Brooks is seen tumbling and tussling with both officers on the ground, who were trying to get him to calm down. Punches and arms were flailing. It is called resisting arrest. The shooting officers' bodycam was torn off his shirt and laid on the ground for some time, with audio still available. I would call that harm.

So if you resist arrest for any reason, you are likely to be killed? I think you really need to think about that one.

Oh, they'll start caring soon enough. Then it will be interesting (to say the least) to see what happens.
Ita.
I don't like to think about this but sometimes utter lawlessness can lead to human rights abuses.
Then, who do you call, when you've banned LE ????

A community leader ?
A person who will promote "Restorative Justice" ?
Alrighty then.
We will see how that works out.

I never said such a thing. RB obviously did more than resist arrest!

The Police Chief, stepped aside, not quit. IMOO...sounds like the chief cut a deal.

Atlanta police chief stepping down, mayor calls for officer in Atlanta shooting to be fired

ATLANTA — The chief of the Atlanta Police Department is stepping down but remaining with the department hours after an officer-involved shooting in an Atlanta Wendy's parking lot.

Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms made the announcement on Saturday afternoon that Chief Erika Shields has agreed to step down as the chief and take another role that is still "to be determined."

Why did the police chief resign over this?

We can only guess. But maybe she decided that the job wasn't worth the personal stress.

If you fight with police, steal a tazer gun and fire at the officer. Yea, you could loose the battle.
Moo....
