Throwing this one out there (forgive me if she already has been discussed, I may have missed her) - the chin is throwing me off, but I think she resembles more the drawing than the "model" - Linda Carroll

This uid has been associated to the case of Polaroid/Tara Calico; has not yet heard anything of this match is the post written long ago from user Trickett in this thread

http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?87238-FL-Port-St-Joe-2-Children-96UMFL-amp-66UFFL-bound-amp-gagged-in-photo-Jun-89/page40

The Valencia County News Bulletin received an email from a former Georgia sheriff’s deputy, who said a young woman’s body matching Calico’s description was found on the side of an interstate in Georgia. That woman is buried in an unmarked grave there. Her DNA was sent to a lab in Atlanta, but the body was never confirmed to be Calico’s.

I'm going to start by saying that they both have DNA so assuming there is a rule out. But I have to put her up here.

Janet Knife

http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/3737dfmo.html

Missing out of MO but was traveling from AL to GA.
Janet's vehicle and UID found about 150 miles apart but straight shot up the highway (I think). Location info isn't great.
Height and weight are slightly under the estimates.
The 2 year time frame I have no explanation for unless the missing date is wrong.

Janet came up in my first search this morning. Janet has been coming up in all my searches for the last 3 days and all I can see is this UID. Though everything suggests a rule out I'm sharing. This was the clearest photo of Janet and her teeth that I can find.

The resemblance between those two pictures is quite good, but her teeth seem different if you look at the photo here.

Rising Fawn has a very distinctive crooked smile.
You said it. If the correct match ever comes along, I believe we'll recognise that smile at once!

As of last Wednesday (Dec. 6th), Rising Fawn Jane Doe has been unidentified for 30 years ♡

  • #75
I have to think that smile (if even nothing else was accurate) would make this reconstruction identifiable to anyone who knew her and saw it. On the other hand, I have to think that most people with the resources to do so would have had orthodontia in her situation--might say something about her circumstances prior to her death. I have to hope that someday a sibling or friend will come looking for her and see it.

Dade County Sheriff Ray Cross held a news conference about a possible local connection between serial killer Samuel Little and two Jane Does found in the county during the 80s. One of them was Rising Fawn Jane Doe, but DNA has excluded Little as her murderer.
In 1988, a body was found on I-59 near Rising Fawn. But Cross says, Little has been cleared of any involvement.
Cross stressed that DNA evidence has already shown that a body found in the late 1980s in Dade County is not connected to Samuel Little. "That DNA did not match his DNA," Cross said.

I'm kind of wondering now if Samuel Little is even credible. In the past, other serial killers like John Wayne Gacy and Gary Ridgway have been stated to "play" investigators. I don't doubt he's a killer, yet the extent of his crimes seems a bit far-fetched.

I am so pleased to see Rising Fawn Jane Doe's case reopened! :) And the new recon is a vast improvement from the old (which, tbh, looked like something from a National Geographic dokumentary, imo).
