IMO I see a cellphone in his hand. Looks to be in use. Maybe they can use that info of phone pings. Its a long shot. But also such a clear picture! I feel hope for justice for Secoriea! I am teary-eyed right now. Someone must recognize him. They better turn him in for all humanity. My God.

Good catch on noticing the cell phone.
Yes, it's a very clear pic. Someone knows who he is, for sure. That $20,000 reward has to be tempting to someone. Even if they don't have the moral compass to turn him in because it's the right thing to do.
I'm guessing/hoping there will be an arrest very soon after the release of that 2nd pic.

Sunday marks the three-month anniversary of the fatal shooting of 8-year-old Secoriea Turner. The rising third-grader died July 4 after police said shooters opened fire while manning a “makeshift roadblock” on University Avenue in south Atlanta, across the street from the now-demolished Wendy’s where Rayshard Brooks was killed.

Police have arrested just one suspect: 19-year-old Julian Conley, who insists through his lawyer he did not shoot the girl.

“We continue to work on that case. We were happy with that arrest,” Interim Atlanta Police Chief Rodney Bryant said. “I was proud of the men and women that worked to bring it to that level of resolution, but there’s still more work to be done.”

I wonder if the fine city folks of Atlanta will offer a " Secoriea Turner Way" street name soon? Poor baby girl was truly a victim of a crime. :(

Bond denied Julian Conley in Secoriea Turner case | 11alive.com

During the hearing, an advocate read a statement from Turner's family.

"Secoriea will not get up today ... she was a dancer and belonged to a cheerleading group. We the family strongly oppose bond for the defendant."

The state says Conley's presence there that night is one reason that bond should be denied in the case.

"The defendant was a participant in attempting to create an autonomous lawless zone in the city of Atlanta while brandishing assault-style weapons, and the vehicles that attempted to enter that zone on a public street in the city -- if they did so in a manner that was without his authority -- they would brandish their firearms at the occupants of the vehicles," said Deputy District Attorney, Pat Dutcher.

The state said this case will likely go before a Grand jury once Grand Jury hearings resume in March.

Family of Secoriea Turner sues city of Atlanta, Wendy's for her death

"ATLANTA - The parents of Secoriea Turner, the 8-year-old girl who was shot and killed in Atlanta last July at the Wendy's where Rayshard Brooks was killed weeks earlier, have filed a lawsuit against the city of Atlanta over her death.

Attorneys representing the family had previously announced their intent to file a lawsuit and Monday they reported that they have filed the suit against the city of Atlanta, Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, Atlanta police chief Rodney Bryant, Atlanta city councilmember Joyce Sheperd and Wendy's International.

...the complaint alleges numerous failings on the part of the city, including that Atlanta officials were negligent in their duties by not removing armed protesters who had taken over the Wendy's where Rayshard Brooks was shot and killed three weeks earlier. "

Second suspect arrested for little one's death

Second man arrested for murder of 8-year-old girl in Atlanta BLM 'autonomous zone'

"According to arrest warrants, Jerrion McKinney is accused of manning the protest barricades with other armed vigilantes, who prosecutors called "other co-conspirators."

"Authorities used social media, photographic evidence and criminal history, to determine that McKinney and Conley were involved with the Bloods gang."

The warrant stated, "Atlanta Police Department officers were not allowed into the area and the Bloods gang and its associates operated the area as an 'autonomous zone' in which the sovereign authority of the City of State were not recognized, and the Bloods gang exerted all control."

"According to the warrant the gang "controlled the area ... through the use of barricades and violence through the brandishing, pointing, and discharging of firearms at citizens and civilians to ensure compliance with their authority in a highly visible manner."

Conley and McKinney also face charges regarding two other previous incidents that night, one in which a bus driver was stopped at gunpoint before being allowed through the barricade, and another in which a driver and a passenger were forced to turn around at gunpoint.

The warrants stated that when the car young Turner was in arrived at the barricade at 9:46 pm. The driver tried to go around the barricade and Conley allegedly fired at the car. A bullet struck the girl in the head while she was sitting in the backseat. "As the vehicle passed, McKinney chased the vehicle down the road away from the area.”

Last month, a complaint filed by the Turner family in Fulton County State Court said that it was the many failures of elected leaders, "including that they were negligent in their duties by failing to remove armed vigilantes who had gathered alongside peaceful protestors at the Wendy's where Rayshard Brooks was shot and killed."

Named in the complaint are Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms as well as Atlanta Police Chief Rodney Bryant, City Councilmember Joyce Sheperd and Wendy's International. The family is being represented by The Cochran Firm, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Five years after 8-year-old Secoriea Turner was shot and killed during protests in Atlanta, her family is keeping her memory alive through a scholarship in her name.

On Thursday night, a fundraiser brought in at least $5,000 to support the Secoriea Turner Social Justice Scholarship, which was launched in July 2024 in partnership with Spelman College.
Jury selection begins Monday in the trial of Julian Conley, one of two men charged in connection with Secoriea’s death. Her family says they plan to be present in court.
